Today Mickey Gilley left us, 86 years. I was only in his place about three times in the mid 70s. I preferred the clubs on the north side of Houston and not Pasadena. I did know quite a few people that went there often but my friends had our own places we spent all our time. His club first started as a simple beer joint for the refinery workers of Pasadena and evolved to what it became. There was also a club down the street which the name I forget but the head liner was Johnny Lee and he married Charlene Tilton. She later played on Dallas and is now pushing 60 years old. All my memories keep disappearing. My Sister emailed today and told me she had talked to my Aunt which I had grown up with and she told sister that her oldest son is not doing well and will probably be the next to leave from our family.
    RIP Mickey

The club down the street (Spencer Highway) was called Johnny Lee's. :D Lee owned his own club.

I did spend a lot of time in the Winchester, liked it a lot. Wells Fargo was close to home so I spent more time there than any other club. Outside of Houston was The 59 Club and I liked it but boy was it hard to get home sometimes. One Saturday night I was supposed to meet a girl there at the 59 club because she lived nearer Conroe and it was easier for her to get there. So I left Houston pretty late but it was still light out and I got about two miles out of Humble and ran over something on the highway and it took my alternator belt off. I got off on the feeder and popped the hood to see what was wrong and saw the belt was completely gone. I had a small rope and tried tying the rope on to help me make it to the parts house in Humble. It didn't work so I drove it without the alternator fan belt and made it to the parts house but it was already closed. I was pretty bummed out since there was no cell phones back in those days but when I drove back to 59 I noticed there was a large store that sold automotive still opened and I ran in before it closed and bought 3 sizes just to be sure I got one that would work. I made it to the club pretty greased up and dirty but managed to have a great time after all the trouble. ;0)

I love this … even tho we are not church going people , it’s obviously remastered because Patsy Cline died in 1940’s ?? guessing without looking it up.

This version is …..Willy Nelson and Patsy singing, it sounds beautiful on my google home gadget.

We often dance to the same tune that recorded for our dance sequences.

Thanks for that. Classical, rock, country, whatever, if it's good music it's good music. I'm a little jealous of Willie because my wife liked him but that's a whole nuther story.
