Faye, can use say you were a member of such a popular rodeo association? Every Timed Event cowboy I knew, when I was in the Sierra Circuit, called those "fancy looking, full of makeup and store bought buckle", Buckle Bunnies. Whether you want to hear it or not! If I don't want to help someone, because I'm not getting paid for it, that's my and my wife's decision..........most definitely not yours! Boy, you sure do get pissed off easily. I've never/ever known anyone, male or female, that got that way as much as you do. Wife and I are 100% proud of my past weekend rodeo career and darn proud of who we have met. Buckle bunnies? I was thinking of the movie Six Days, Seven Nights. No rodeos in it but Harrison Ford made a comment on an article about the hoopla needed to get a man excited. He said, Do you want to know what you need to do to get a man excited? Show Up! We're guys. We're easy.
Rodeos are shows I tried showing one of my horses, but in English dress. No matter which discipline I chose; saddleseat for my walker, dressage for me or hunt I felt stupid. Hunt/dressage make you wear pants that look like men's long johns. Saddleseat in a long day coat and long pants; like a too big men's suit. My horse asked me to stop. Not because I looked funny but my show nerves made him crazy. Why do they call horse clothes tack instead of saddle and stuff? And why the outfits. Maybe to present a class of riders? Pomp and circumstance. Sometimes a special tie is included that used to be available in case you needed a tournequette on a hunt, probably, not in a show. Tight pants make some sense for comfort (except in saddleseat)... Western clothes had actual purpose to start with: The pointy boots to slip in and out of stirrups easily, the heel to keep from slipping through. The amazing chaps to keep from having your legs cut up, hats for sun and rain...show clothes in western have also evolved into what people in a fancy or exclusive club might like. I would think a huge belt buckle would not feel good against belly skin. Of course young buckle bucks with flat stomachs would be fine. I liked jeans, long sleeved cotton shirts and heeled boots for the weather. The shirt to prevent sunburn and absorb sweat, jeans to do work no matter what, the seams in jeans never bothered me. But I did not go on wagon trains for days. My favorite hat is a sort of floppy one with bug mesh on it cuz I hate mosquitoes and face flies. Did not have one when I rode but that would have been my choice.
Put me on ignore, I would welcome it. Yes, I get pissed off when one like you continually makes stupid statements based on internet knowledge. I am a real sweetheart compared to many ranchers present and past that I know when it comes to braggarts, name droppers, and bullshitters. By your own admission, you were a Los Angeles area wanna-be cowboy that went to urban roping school and only did rodeos on weekends for a few years. You and your healer left before other rodeo events started. This certainly doesn't sound like a serious rodeo fan. California is the host of all kinds of western stereotyping and anything related to rodeo that started there, doesn't impress me one iota. So some ego-inflated California urban LA roper liked to brag that all the young women dressed "sexy" to try and entice him into sex because he won some insignificant belt buckle. You tell us your wife was attracted to you because of your rodeo skills and that you wore a buckle to prove it. Regardless of how was she dressed, wouldn't this make her a woman seeking a rodeo buckle winner, a buckle bunny if one uses common knowledge instead of the urban dictionary? Pay no attention to me and my suggestions. Carry on and you will soon isolate yourself from anyone but other limited experience internet-educated ego-centrical rodeo fans.
Really, you don't drop names then you follow with more name dropping. You must think all of us are stupid. The worst yet is you try to lead us to believe you are personal friends with those you had your photo taken with at an event you paid ( with membership) to attend. Do you correspond with any of these acquaintances? Have they invited you to their ranch or even out to coffee? .

Don't live anywhere near any of them. Mentioning World Champion names is not "name dropping", it's honoring them. That is, if you know what "honoring them" means.
Faye, you get things so, so mixed up here, and then try to prove you're right and I'm always wrong. Just because you were a rancher at one time, doesn't mean you know it all. Sorry, didn't live in L.A.. Lived in Orange County. When my heeler and I were competing, we weren't fans. After our turn, we'd load up our horses and head home. Yes, we were both "weekend cowboys" and so were the other guys I knew. We all had nice paying jobs during the week. Now, I've really gotten tired of reading your insults about me and my wife, just like you've got tired of reading what I say. Let's simply end it here before I completely quit the forum and tell Ken the true reason/reasons why. IOW, I don't take too kindly to being called a "dick". My wife got pretty pissed at you for that. So, if this arguing/bickering continues, I will quit the forum. I simply don't need all of this name calling and crap that Ken definitely shouldn't put up with, but apparently does. Have a nice life, Faye, but really remember, a lot of rodeo cowboys make much, much more money than most ranchers do. Ranchers are good/nice folks though.
. Nope, it is name-dropping to boost your own personal status. Honoring them is what the PRCA is about. Mentioning that you saw them and discussing their performances is one thing, but saying we know them and mingle with them and we have had our photos taken with them is name-dropping especially when you do it repeatedly. When you mention famous names to boost your own status, then that is name-dropping.
Ok, Faye, you absolutely don't want to understand us at all. So, from now on, you can write whatever and Ken can totally ignore whatever. I'm done!
Who cares who makes more money rodeo cowboys or ranchers? So it is all about the money with you. OK, I have it now. Complain to Ken all you want and leave the forum or stay, I could care less. None of this has anything about who is right, it is about the way you present things as being fact and you have the expertise to prove it and everyone else is unknowledgeable and should lean on your every word. I didn't call you a name any more than you called me one. By your thinking, my going to rodeo as a fan dressed in short jean shorts and a low-cut crop top, wearing heeled "cowgirl" boots and a western hat makes me a buckle bunny that the internet urban cowboys define as a whore, you called me a name. I have been to rodeo many times dressed like that in hot weather and no one really cared.
I attended my first rodeo because my friends wanted to go. I didn't want to because it was on the spur of the moment and I got roped into it. Turns out, it was incredibull! I did feel a little nervous at how fast-paced the rodeo was.....I prefer the safety of the sidewalkeo. I do want to ride a bull some time before I shuffle off this mortal coil. It's on my buck-it list. I did notice that when a lot of old cowboys hang up their spurs and get out of the business, they buy new cars, usually Cattle-lacks. Best piece of advice I ever got from a cowboy: Don't squat with your spurs on.
That's the difference between you and me, If I wore a crop top, every cowboy would suggest that I should have ironed my outfit before wearing it.
