I just had to put one on ignore because of personal medical reasons. It cut the responses I see in half on one particular thread.
I've come close, but I need to exercise my self-discipline. Eventually I'll refrain from interacting entirely, instead of trying "just one more time."
@Silvia Benoit Now I understand. Those are Alerts that someone has commented in a thread you are Watching, most likely because your profile is set to Send Notifications on any thread you have made a comment on (Automatically Watch.) You want to leave that setting as it is. But you will not receive Alerts for every comment everyone makes in any thread on the forum...you'll only get notices for the ones you are watching by virtue of the fact you commented in then (and even that process is sometimes imperfect.) I guess this misunderstanding is why you think we've all packed up and left town. You will find recent comments on all topics by going to the top of any page and clicking on New Posts. On the New Posts page, you will find topics listed in order of most recent activity. And when on that New Posts page, you can click on Recent Posts off to the right. The topics listed in these two areas overlap greatly, but there are some differences. I forget what the differences between the two areas are, but not knowing has made no difference in my experience here.
..alrighty then What is the big deal about putting someone on Ignore. To me just means that person is bad enough that you clearly are not interested in a word they have to say. That is a last resort type thing for me to do though. No always necessary to keep them on ignore.
It rewards bad behaviour, and makes me feel as though someone else has caused me to throw in the towel due to their unacceptable behaviour. Forums need a way for each of us to have anonymous votes (maybe 2 per month) that we cast at-will against those who we find to be annoying. No one knows when any other member has cast a vote or against whom votes have been cast, except that we may each view our individual tally of received votes (kind of a warning system.) Once an offending member accrues a certain number of votes against them, that member is gagged for a week, then their vote tally resets to zero. Repeated Time Outs may be successively longer. I've not worked out details, but if it punishes those who I personally find to be offending, then it works fine.
i just realized that people are continuing conversations ...on posts that have been here a long time....duh...okay...whatta dimwit...ha!
There is a thread on resurrecting old threads here, begun in 2018 and most recently commented on just a couple of weeks ago, appropriately enough. It's funny how some things just seem to pop up.
oh yeah...the skunk....i pop in and out during the day sometime....if something new...might comment if it hits me...I'd just seen the thread about the bluebirds...thought ....wow...I'd never seen that before...anyway...have a good nite...I am conking out......zzzzzz
I seldom put anyone on ignore unless I simply find them too annoying and I know that I won't be able to refrain from calling them a dumbwad or something. It's mostly due to my own shortcomings.
