FINALLY! More coming out about the unbelievable massive failure that cost lives. The Chief should be arrested and tried for intentionally allowing kids to die. At least manslaughter!! Something is bad wrong with this massacre that gave fuel to the Democrats to call for more gun laws that affect mostly honest and safe gun owners.

That was indeed a huge failure on the part of law enforcement, and it should indeed be a call to arms, given that the police are clearly not going to keep us safe.

As I said before, there is something wrong, badly wrong with all that happened that day. Something very sinister happened. Way too many things went wrong to be coincidence and just bad policing. The Cheif should be arrested for manslaughter at the very least. There is a lot of hush-hush going on. I am pro-police, but not corrupt police which this chief seems to be. I sure hope the state of Texas is still investigating.

A video of several police entering three minutes after the shooter entered the building is now out. It shows three officers in hot pursuit and near the classroom where the massacre occurred when shots rang out. All three policemen turned and ran, one so fast he almost lost his balance.

The shots made this an active shooter situation and by police protocol, they should have shot the lock off and got low, and shot the killer. Go in the direction of the shots, not away. Protect those children even if they have to risk their lives. There should have been police at the classroom windows and they should have broken them out and shot this killer dead.

The mother that entered later by jumping over a fence and got two classrooms out safely before being handcuffed is the only hero here. All the others involved are cowards that should be tied to a post and whipped. I hope the parents get a great attorney and sue the school and the police into poverty.

This has to be the biggest act of cowardice in USA history. All these police should have the badges torn off their chest and tried for not following protocol. The chief should be in prison for life. He is guilty of intentionally aiding a mass murderer.

Let this sink in! This killer could have been stopped with only the teachers being shot and they might have been saved depending on their wounds. Again, the police were only a few feet from the classroom when the first shots rang out.

    I watched the video. Disgusting.

Another odd thing—the 2 men at the very beginning who came from the school, walked to the wrecked truck, then ran back to the school, like they were in danger. The shooter then walked across a field, climbed over the fence, then walked around the side of the building before he even got to the school. What were those 2 men doing in the meantime? It seemed like enough time/opportunity to stop the shooter from even entering the school in the first place.

The people of this town will never get over this. Just tragic.

It disgusts me that this case is being used to push for gun control. On the contrary, this case illuminates the need for citizens to arm themselves so that they can defend themselves and their families, and perhaps a good argument for homeschooling. The police are not required to protect you or your children and, as we can see, they often choose not to.

Exactly ! But so many believe the police should just be willing to die ..... so that they [the so many] can be protected.

Those officers have family just like the kids had family ..... and the family of those officers wanted the officers to come home that day, just as much as the parents of the kids wanted them to come home.

I think some folks have seen too many "Dirty Harry" movies.

I think that when it comes to children being shot over a period of more than an hour, the average person with a gun would risk his life to bring an end to it. Given that the police, with all of their militarized weaponry and training, were content to kick back and wait until the shooter either ran out of bullets or ran out of victims, I think we're wasting a whole lot of money equipping people who are eager to take on a job, but unwilling to do it. If not obstructed by cowardly police, armed civilians would have gotten the job done. If the police are unwilling to take risks, then they shouldn't get in the way of those who are.

The bottom line is law enforcement is about protecting and serving the people. Firemen and paramedics risk there lives daily to help or save others. It is in the job description.

In Uvalde when the police ran away from an active shooter situation which there was no doubt it was, then they violated the oath they took when becoming police officers. There was no indication it was a hostage situation.

At least 3 officers as we saw on video violated the reason for even having a police force. They were in the building 3 minutes after the shooter. That is a great response time and would have saved lives if they weren't cowards and just became police to draw a paycheck and have the power to harass honest citizens.

This had nothing to do with watching Dirty Harry movies. It has everything to do with the public expecting police to perform their sworn duty efficiently, and swiftly, even if it may cost them their lives. I believe the Uvalde situation goes beyond just incompetence and cowardliness. Handcuffing moms brave enough to go in a rescue what kids they could, tells me something is bad wrong and perhaps planned. The mom that did go in and save the kids is getting little publicity and is being harassed by Uvalde police. Smell corruption and something sinister? I do!

Locally we had an incident a few months back when 911 called paramedics to respond to a lady that was shot in the leg by her crazy son and was bleeding. She lived in a very remote rural area. Three paramedics responded quickly since they were within a mile of that location after finishing another call that didn't require transport. The police were 40 minutes away at best. When the paramedics arrived, they saw the son on the front porch holding a gun and he shot a couple of rounds in the air. These 3 heroes quickly made a plan knowing the lady's life depended on them. The trainee would take cover and try to talk to the son while the 2 full-fledged paras snuck around back with portable carry. They did and kicked in the backdoor and went in and got the lady stable.

They radioed the trainee to come around back and help them carry her out of sight and get her in the ambulance. He did but when they came around they saw the ambulance take off. The crazy son had stolen the ambulance. They radioed the cops that saw the ambulance coming with siren wailing and lights flashing and turned around and took chase. Five police cars were in hot pursuit before the son pulls over and got out to take a pee. He was arrested.

Another out-of-area ambulance made it to the scene and took the lady into the ER. They had their crew so they left the 3 heroes stranded and when they called the chief he told them he was tied up in a car crash, so start walking and one of the police would take their ambulance and meet them. They made it 5 miles before the cop driving their ambulance arrived. The trainee quit saying he didn't realize that a paramedic would have to risk their own life to do their job.

These 2 skilled and quick-thinking paramedics are an example of what anyone in police or emergency services should do. As one of the guys said, backing down was never an option and they weren't heroes, just doing their job although the 5-mile walk did have him thinking about retirement.

This is what I have found ..... and others similar to it.

    https://www.quora.com/Do-police-officers-still-take-an-oath-to-protect-and-serve

As far as i can find, no police officer is sworn to give up his/her life to defend anyone.

Also, those officers [as per news cast] were under order no to engage.

As per an officer friend of mine [now retired] if they ignore/disobey that order , and are indeed shot their family can be denied the department benefits . Because at that moment they were being insubordinate .

The public [armed] basically has no responsibility , so yes they might indeed storm the building & do the best they can. Perhaps overwhelming the shooter, & saving the children , but there is also a chance that even more children/teachers might have been shot in the process ?

I'm 73 and use a cane ........ if my grandchild was in there, I might very well take my chances even unarmed, essentially laying down my life to try. Why ???? Because my heart is in it ... my family is in danger / under fire.

For the officers on scene ....... it's a job ....... nothing more.
