The larger issue is that there are a lot of media outlets backstabbing this guy for actually doing the bidding of his constituents rather than being a lackey for the Democrat party.

And they talk about people being disenfranchised...

Manchin votes for what his constituents are in favor of. They all should do that. That's what they are elected to do; not what the party tells them to vote for.

I'm seriously thinking about sending him a donation.

    And don't tell me that I'm not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition. ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)

I had to laugh at that. Sometimes I might rewrite such a sentence to read "...not for which the party tells them" just to test it out. Then I change it back to read as we speak. Proper English is just so...proper.

And I, too, have sent such out-of-state folks money.

Looks like Joe Manchin finally agreed to support an energy and health care bill... LINK

"The measure would invest $369 billion into energy and climate change programs... Medicare would be empowered to negotiate the prices of certain medications, and it would cap out-of-pocket costs at $2,000 for those enrolled in Medicare drug plans. It would also extend expiring enhanced subsidies for Affordable Care Act coverage for three years...To raise revenue, the bill would impose a 15% minimum tax on corporations, which would raise $313 billion over a decade."

Provided the Senate parliamentarian allows it to go through as a reconciliation bill, not subject to the filibuster, thus requiring only a majority to pass the Senate. It should pass the House. Manchin has always said the tax cuts the Republicans pushed through for the wealthy and corporations in 2017 was a terrible bill.

So he's going to help fund the climate change HOAX? -- the main purpose which is to restrict our freedoms, confiscate our wealth, and help turn us into a 3rd world country?

Tax breaks for corps a bad idea? Raise their taxes, it becomes another expense and will drive up the price of their products or services. It raises prices for consumers and is inflationary.

"People spending their own money as they see fit," bad idea

"Government confiscating wealth and spending it politically, is really wealth destruction," good idea

Question: Does Joe M represent the people in his district or the big money that owns him? Answer: quite obvious. How many other Joes are there, in both parties, in our government?

Do note that when taxes were lowered and some regulations were abandoned, more tax paying people went to work thereby increasing the government coffers.

The government does not need increase in tax revenues. Money is unbacked and can be 'printed' as needed. Tax is now just a way to control people. Everyone is afraid of the IRS. And as our pension/SS remains the same, when taxes start rising on our property, we may eventually lose it.

    True.
Here in N. Alabama and I guess throughout the U.S., property values have tripled in just the last year and a half which also sends a tingly feeling up the leg of the tax assessor.

And Obama stated that he would raise taxes even if it had a net effect on tax revenue "out of fairness."

It is commonly known that when federal taxes are reduced, federal tax income increases. It has always been so and the Dems know it. They use the "tax the rich" stuff and "corporations need to pay their fair share" kind of stuff to play to their base, which is generally undereducated and willing to trust what they spout in the media without checking it out or thinking about it.

As I've posted a number of times before, I've been a "news junkie" for most of my life. I've thought that I am relatively good at keeping up on things. I must be really out of it since I obviously don't know what is "commonly known." I guess there's no point for me to comment here.
