As I see it all. I prayed in my many years and still do in my own way, do affirmations daily and my form of prayers. Nothing seems to be changing. The world is a mess and full of prayers.

Talking to a young man and his mother is dying and she is so alone and not eating and I believe it's a
matter of time but they are all praying.....why they don't have a hospice for her I am wondering. I'll have
    to ask him.

Nothing seems to be changing ?

Rather, as written would happen, things have been getting worse constantly. Mankind, including religions, reject the Creator, don't honor His Word (they honor man's traditions instead, which is cursed) , and everyone both Jew and gentile, saved and unsaved, is subject to judgment for everything they/we/ do and every word they/we/ speak.

The dead know nothing. They are not floating somewhere without a body, contrary to man's traditions. They will be resurrected for judgment on the last day with everyone else.

Who speaks to us? Who is Alive ? \
    See Hebrews Chapter One.

from biblegateway dot com (many helps there in reading Bible)

One Who Rose, made payment for sins of those who trust Him, who love Him, who are called according to His Plan .....

    "Hebrews 1
    Revised Standard Version

God Has Spoken by His Son

    1 In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets;

but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature, upholding the universe by his word of power. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, ...."

He is Speaking Today, to some, or few, or all ?
If so , there is hope still remaining for some, or few , or all ....
If not, there is no longer any hope remaining, no more payment for sins for those outside of Christ Jesus.

In many ways it all goes back to free will.

I can see the results of prayer nearly every day but maybe it’s because I know where to look.
I’ve seen individuals cured of diseases when there was no hope. I’ve seen food show up where there was none. I’ve seen addicts suddenly made clean and never wanting drugs again. I have seen the imprisoned found not-guilty and freed and yes, I’ve even seen the lame walk.
As a matter of fact, I am the result of much prayer when my own demise was certain.

That said, the one thing that prevents any major changes via prayer is man’s thoughtless inhumanity to man via his own free will to do so.
As long as man has an assured ability to develop disease, strife, war, poverty, hunger, homelessness, greed, addiction and call evil a good thing and good a bad thing, there is little that God will do because unlike mankind, He will NOT break His own word and further, He has already set the wheels in motion for the rest of prophesy to be fulfilled.

I suspect that God is disinclined to grant wishes to those who think of Him as Alladin in a lamp.

I believe that many prayers are answered. Last year I had Stage 3C cancer; I'm still here to talk about it.

I've heard it said that God answers ALL prayers. It just may not be the answer you want.

I was driving to the farm and I met an oncoming car signaling a left turn when we were both at stop signs. Momentary wait. He waved me on. I waved back and drove on. Curtesy. I thought, that is what is missing. Being kind to people and it is starting to take hold a little. I hope we take over the evil with more consideration of others, which is what is missing to help God along a bit.

I also think there is a country song about his greatest blessing being an unanswered prayer.

We, wife and I, find that farm, ranch and rodeo people are very friendly and helpful. There is an organization called Cowboys For Christ.

One thing for sure, people have to be earnest when praying. Some are, some aren't.

True but Ken made a good point in that there are some who rarely speak with God until they want something like winning the lottery then it turns to deal making.
“lord, let me win that million and I’ll give half to charity”.

Above all else, God knows the heart.

God has no use for the prayers of the people who won't listen to him. MEV He who turns away his ear from hearing instruction, even his prayer will be an abomination. NOG Surely the prayer of someone who refuses to listen to God's teachings is disgusting. NABRE Those who turn their ears from hearing instruction, even their prayer is an abomination.
