First, for the 21 years I was single/divorced, I'd never date a lady that drank wine. Now, if that wine was Boon's Farm Strawberry Hill, perhaps. Now, why wouldn't I? To me, I couldn't afford to date a lady that drank wine. Some of them looked way, way to good-looking for me. Some would be in a country-western nightclub wearing a dress and high heels. Absolutely...........no thanks! Then, there were the ladies that would wrap a napkin around a beer bottle when drinking it. My wife would never do that (thank God).

We drink Bud Light and Michelob Ultra and buy either in a 12 pack. Whenever we have Mexican food, be it take-out or in a restaurant, we almost always have a margarita. Sometimes the margarita will be too weak, so we have to order a shot of Jose to add. The margaritas I make at home, we never have to add an addition shot. Yes, I make a good one! And, once in a while, I'll have a Bloody Mary with breakfast out. Only one restaurant here I can have that. But, at home, have all of the makings for a nice Bloody Mary with Major Peters Original Bloody Mary Mix and Absolute Vodka.

And, from the movie, Last Vegas, with Michael Douglas, we have the makings for a Red Bull Vodka. Can of Red Bull and the vodka we use for Bloody Mary's. We have get to try the Red Bull Vodka yet. Almost too afraid to. LOL

My siblings find me odd cause I never took up drinking or smoking , they all did and 3 of then are deceased
and I’m the eldest of the lot .

I’ve sometimes wondered why I wasn’t tempted to smoke drink ….was it cause my mother didn’t drink or smoke when I was born ? and I’d been told many years ago no one was even allowed to smoke within 20 ft of me as a baby.
I most certainly had lots of opportunities with it in the family home and of course at school where other would try
to influence you to have a puff behind the toilets …nar was never interested

Was it the fact I lived with one of my aunts & and uncles for about 3 years from the age of 3~ 6 years old they never smoked or drank.

Who knows why some take up the habits, …..my version / reason is I seen way to much destruction it came cause in a family including the kids being starved / neglected / abused by our alcoholic parents.

This was my sister in her 30’s holding my brothers partner’s child at the time
Her name was Vicky she led a very unsettled/ hectic life of a drug alcohol addiction dependant ( no children)
She was 10 years younger than me and died just before she was 50.

I have an occasional beer (a.k.a. liquid bread), maybe going through a 6-pack in a month. Nothing else, though - no wine or hard stuff. Don't like the taste of it and I don't think it does the brain cells any good,

My SIL (wife's older sister) doesn't drink, gamble or swear, yet she looks 10+ years older than both of us. She is four years older than my wife and 5 years older than myself.

Last December, my wife sort of embarrassed her older sister when we were in Las Vegas. Had buffet breakfast at the MGM and there was a bar inside the buffet. My wife paid extra for all-you-can-drink champagne. She had a couple of glasses during breakfast and ordered another in the casino. After that third one, she was getting pretty "tipsy". Could stand up during a rodeo autograph session, but barely. Drove her back to our hotel and she passed out (slept) for the next two plus hours.

I already knew that she was going to drink the champagne at the buffet, but her sister didn't. IOW, our lifestyle sure doesn't match her sisters!

We drank 3.2 beer when kids. I could buy beer and wine at 18 (which was a mistake) but mostly smoked pot.
Fast forward to getting a job and supporting a family. Drug testing stopped the weed so I was introduced to dranking .
I really enjoyed my top shelf bourbon but after a while I started buying less expensive brands account I was consuming more.
Then came the cheap vodka. To the tune of a handle every other day.
Ironically, I attribute a severe case of Covid with saving my life. If not for the ramped up testing my involved liver, pancreas and others would not have been discovered. Needless to say I don’t drink.

I did a good share of imbibing and "dancing", loved to dance so I worked it off, but had a nasty hangover once and spent the next day drinking some beer and tomato juice, and that was the last one of those. I enjoyed buying nice wines, but I have NOT for 6 yrs or so, don't miss any of it. And don't need to spend the money and today's times for sure.

Dad never quit beer and drank a couple beers 2 weeks before he died at almost 95.

Unless a person is a pin cushion, drinking alcohol and building muscle mass is a counterproductive venture not even counting how many brain cells are affected from lack of oxygen.

That said, I drank my share and probably someone else’s during my season of invulnerability but now, nothing.

I've only been drunk once or twice since I've been old enough to drink legally. Even in high school, I'd usually carry the same beer around all night, or until I could dump it out somewhere. Legality took all the fun out of drinking or even pretending to. I will have half a glass of wine every decade or so.

I drank like a fish! I WANTED it! Then around the age of 50 I started on supplements and just quit. No more desire. I wondered if I had some sort of a deficiency that that made me an alcoholic.

I’ve tasted a sip of wine ..it tastes like vinegar to me ….and I tasted beer for the first time when I met hubby
    when i was 40 , I hated the taste.

He drank way to much in his younger years and prob for the first 10 years of our marriage, which was coming to an end at lightening speed, I just let it go there wasn’t allot of point me saying anything cause he’d just have more of I said anything …but one day he decided to give it away and rarely drinks now days he will have a can of beer with friends once in a while but that’s it.

I only got lit up once in my life. It was in the late 1960s in Berlin Germany and a bunch of us decided to check out every place up and down Kurfürstendamm (a.k.a. "Ku-damm") one evening. They told me later that I made an indecent proposal to a light post. The memory, or lack thereof, of that evening coupled with a monster hangover and the loss of my trenchcoat was enough to trigger current behavior (i.e., one cold beer every once in a while with pizza or snack after a good ride).
