I don't understand how having everyone pay his or her fair taxes should raise the taxes on my house?

I’m still on board with the Fair Tax. The Fair Tax will get rid of the entire IRS and make it impossible to cheat on one’s taxes whether it’s a corporation, small business or a poor guy just trying to make ends meet.

Without knowing how much an IRS agent makes, the amount of money that the extra IRS agents will recover will probably not pay for the extra agents, their travel expenses, their vehicles, electronic equipment, retirement, medical insurance and the other perks.
In reality, it’s just another government drain and strain on the taxpayer which to me, is self defeating.

There are a billion locks sold every year just to keep honest people honest but when it comes to someone who really wants to break in, no lock or locks of any size or cost will prevent a determined thief from stealing your flat screen TV.

I don't think the reason behind this is to increase federal revenue. Tax cuts are more efficient at that. This bill is more about punishment and payoffs. The Green Energy lobby gets significant subsidies that are paid for by the conventional energy companies and regular tax payers. Just as the FBI has been turned into a political "hit squad", the IRS is going to be going further down that road.

I don't know if the Fair Tax would make it impossible to cheat, it would make it more difficult and, probably, constitutional. I think I have said before on this forum that an attorney once told me that every law school graduate knows that the Income Tax Return is unconstitutional but that no judge has the guts to rule it so, as it would cause the government to fall. The tax return violates both the 4th and 5th amendments, since you are tried and prosecuted based on information the government has required you to supply about yourself. Apparently the tax itself is constitutional based on the 16th amendment but the tax return is illegal.

That’s around 1,740 new agents for each state. That’s 1,740 people making high 5 or low 6 figures sitting around and looking at 1,740 computers to glean the same information that a single person could get on a single computer.

I don't believe anyone here has said they don't pay taxes or don't agree with paying "their fair share." Be careful that you don't fall off your lofty perch while looking down on us.

    Good evening to all-
    Ms. Gallagher
My perch is probably just about as high as yours. and I don't look down on anyone. . I treat everyone I come in contact with just as politely and fairly as they allow me to do. I will admit, some people with sour attitudes and abrasive outlooks make it hard to be civil, but I do try.
And I appreciate your concern for my welfare.

    good evening to all- Ed

    Very true.
Yeah, I did write the word “impossible” and I’m sure that some corporations will find a way to go around a usage tax with a parts provider especially if that purveyor is from overseas.
That said, I wouldn’t mind paying 23% for usage and get rid of the IRS along with the 16th amendment just as I don’t think most corporations would mind not having to pay taxes on the sale of their widgets but only pay the percentage on what it takes to build those widgets.
And, according to the paradigm set, those who make under such and such amount will receive a monthly pre-bate thus leveling the playing field.

And yes, I can readily see that the additional “revenooers” will be out there like the untouchables during prohibition days snatching and grabbing everything they can of any value.

Now, whatcha wanna bet that the corporations which back Dem candidates and declare their donations as a tax deduction will not be questioned albeit the corporations backing the Conservative side will.

My reply was just a sarcastic one considering this new bill they are trying to pass, Its not about fair share imo its about taxing the middle class out of existence. I don't see it affecting the rich that much its just a lie they tell us.
    I sure hope I'm wrong.

The goal of all of this monitoring was stated a while ago: The fed can see what our "needs" are by our spending habits, then they can confiscate our retirement accounts and put us on an allowance based upon what their monitoring tells them we require. And they'll use this data to "means test" Social Security. And don't forget that the money you wish to bequeath to your kids really belongs to the government as well.

By the time they hire the agents and gather/analyze the data, the dust will settle on the vax deaths so that better calculations can be made.

This has nothing to do with taxation...or "fairness."

Meanwhile, the wealthy will be able to afford to find the loopholes, which will be conveniently placed there for just that purpose, and those on the far left, like Al Sharpton, won't even have to bother with that. They'll simply ignore tax day and no one will look at them twice because, you know, they're special.
