Being a household of one, I don't make cakes very often, but I've occasionally made birthday cakes for friends. Everyone liked Devil's Food with a classic Hershey's Cocoa-based frosting...and a splash of coffee in it. I've made German Chocolate Cake...labor-intensive but worth it. Just once I made a from-scratch Baked Alaska, with homemade Crème de menthe ice cream.
Mmmmmm....I love me some Amaretto. I used to make apple pastries for monthly church brunches, and I always put a splash of Amaretto in the filling (and cooked off the alcohol.) That cake looks delish.
Yes, I agree. German Chocolate Cakes take time, but they are so delicious! I made 4 of them a couple of months ago. A gentleman from my SIL church turned 100 years old and he liked German chocolate cake. She asked me to bake one for him since it was his favorite cake. I was honored to make them.
I like German chocolate cake but it's one I never made, Too complicated . Now you'll have me craving one.
Yup. Guess what I really want right now. I was going through a mental list of people I could share one with if I made it. damn.
We'll figure something out. I've worked in purchasing long enough to have preceded the days of Fed Ex. The only overnight service was DHL, and they just did documents. So when my field guys needed a part ASAP, I would put it on a bus or take it to the airport for NFO (Next Flight Out) service, and my guys would have to go to the bus terminal or airport and claim it. There are ways...
I have almost 2000 food pictures. (No pictures or recipes of fish. We no like. ) I think I stated on here somewhere that I made myself a photo recipe book(s). It was a hobby. I started it when I didn't know what the heck I was going to do with a digital camera, when I first got one many moons ago. I liked to cook and bake, so why not. At one time, I was also on a few food forums, which was lots of fun with great ideas. I don't cook or bake nearly as much as I use to. I'm tired and oldish.
Sour cherry pie with a dark chocolate graham cracker crust and fudge whip cream topping, that, I love. Sour cherry pie or all dark chocolate pie are my favorite pies. Both go excellent with coffee ice cream. I have never been known to refuse a cobbler made from tree-ripened peaches.
Lol, I wouldn't want to bore people with my constant daily posting of food. It's only meaningful to me. I am happy/flattered/humbled though, when others find tasting my food or looking at my photos pleasurable. I bake some for fund raising events for my local animal shelter.
