It might help someone to recognize this, though few apparently will ever choose what is right anyway, no matter what it costs them .

Many in the nations say 'peace, peace', when they are not for peace, and there is only rare peace for anyone.

"WELCOME" to 'Nineveh' ? Who is there who will hear the word, who will seek the truth, while many are striving to enter into heaven , and never will no matter how long and hard they struggle to.

I think the more important question might be why people leave forums. The beauty of a senior forum is we can always assume they died or had a medical problem.

I just read (or closely scanned) this entire thread. Maybe all new or newer people should read it. I realize that some people who posted in it are no longer on the forum but it's all good. I feel like I know you all and the intent of the forum better. You're stuck with me and my opinionated political views now. :D I think it's good that all views are accepted.

I have a long history on forums, both political and social, but I won't bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that I was looking for a new forum home after the one where I spent many years as an employee was allowed to die a slow death by an owner who lost interest. So, I've found a few and they are all different but this one seems the most homey after reading this thread.

I have joined forums in order to learn about special topics - how to raise certain marine creatures, aspects of history, species identification, language practice, understanding of and/or problems in philosophy and in religious belief systems, to critique or exchange thoughts over a particular belief system, to learn the arguments of some of the several alternatives to Darwinism, to learn about certain religions from actual adherents.

Also to find like-thinking persons. I've mostly given up on that.

Mostly, now, I suppose, to share a few thoughts that might change the course of history, or otherwise provide relief or understanding to someone, or get some understanding of my own from folks more knowledgeable and clever than I/me, of which, I have discovered, there are many.

I joined a forum 2 or 3 years ago to help pass the time sitting here on my own much of the time after suddenly loosing my wife of 40 years to cancer. That first one was (is) one focused on rural living and activities which I do fit into but not so much the farming side of things, this one is populated with (dare I say it) 'older folks' which I most defiantly now count as being past the ¾ century mark. Prior to that I operated a couple of weekly blogs for a number of years one political opinion the other more personal but I now find I need a bit of different type of stimulation to get the old mind started and it works at a much slower pace, at least in transferring thoughts and words from brain to readable form.

So here I am where it looks like a nice friendly place to pass some of those long hours.

PS I speak 'Limey' now with a spattering of 'Kanuck' and get an occasional recharge of my original mixed youth mumbling from my friends in the 'old country'!

Hi Don, welcome to a fellow Jan 11th guy. Only, I am far older than you are. Forums are fun sometimes and I enjoy talking to people from places I've never visited. I have found that some European members are interested in what life was like during WWII, as most either are too young to recall or weren't even born as yet. However, while I was a child at the time and being an American, I did not go through the horror some of my counterparts did. We had many rough patches to endure, but nothing like those in their countries. I do discuss what I was aware of during that time, as my father made certain that I followed the news closely and did my part by putting together boxes of necessities for the children caught up in that war.

There are a lot of interesting topics to explore on here and don't hesitate to resurrect an old one that may interest you.
