Hawaiian Pizza with lots of pineapple chunks, how do you like yours?

I'm new, so excuse me please if I have posted this incorrectly.

You posted this fine. I am certain I tried pineapple and ham once "just because," and must not have loved it because I'm certain there was not a second time.

Regarding being new: Welcome to the forum!!! We have an Introduction section here if you'd like to formally announce your presence.

You’re doing just find Janelle and welcome to our most humble home away from home.

So, the question is about pineapple on pizza.
Well, the way I heard it, there was this gal named Pua-pua who planted pineapples and she fell in love with a guy named Pau-Pau who was the grandson of Poo-Pau who made a version of Portuguese bread called….uh…..bread.
When Pua-pua married Pau-Pau, the grandmother, Poo-Pau made uh….bread for the wedding night and laced it with some of Pua-Pua’s pineapples and named it according to those responsible for it or…..Pu-Pa-Poo or just poo for short.

In so saying, I like Pizza the Italian way.

I like pineapple on pizza. I like pizza almost any way, although not fond of anchovies. Pizza used to be a fall-back meal when our kids were at home, but I seldom eat it now, as my wife cannot tolerate most grains.

Welcome to the forum, @Janelle Koch ! I am a greeter here; so if there is any way I can help you get settled in to the forum, just let me know and I will do my best to help.

As far as pineapple on pizza, that is a big YES for me, I love it ! One little pizza parlor in north Idaho (where I am from) used to have something called Hawaiian Delight, or something very similar to that.
It had all of the good veggies, (onions peppers, shrooms), plus Canadian bacon and pineapple, and the whole thing was topped with fresh sliced beefsteak tomatoes (put on after the pizza was cooked), and this was my most favorite pizza of all time .

I also like anchovies on pizza, but unless we make it at home, I do not ask for anchovies.
I discovered that since most people do not ask for anchovies, the restaurant happily puts the whole little can of anchovies on the pizza, even if you only ask for a personal pan sized pizza.
I had to pick off all of the anchovies, and the pizza still tasted like that, just from what had soaked in. Anchovies are wonderful, and add a great flavor, but only in moderation.

Hi Yvonne, thank you and what a kind enjoyable welcome. :)

That Hawaiian Delight pizza sounds soooo good! You described so well,
I might order pizza for tomorrow night's dinner.... oh YES ;)

I would have had to pick off the anchovies too, although I am hoping to
develop a little bit of liking for them, and as you said, in moderation.

looking forward to the forums, I am on several senior forums and always
have been, so much enjoy them too..

Hi Janelle and welcome! I like most pizza, pineapple included. One of our favorites is the "Fiery Hawaiian" that has pineapple, jalapenos, and ham.

I make homemade pizza and have been on an "Am I really sure I don't like that?" quest. So I made an anchovy pizza. I recall it was pretty minimalist...anchovies, black olives and red onions. The taste was not all that strong, but I used anchovies that came with their own little pickle fork to eat right out of the jar (they were expensive.) I made it again using canned anchovies and--while they were a little stronger--I was still underwhelmed.

I use anchovies in my pasta sauces and expected the worse when eating them on pizza, but it was no big deal.

The thing with anchovies is that they are so salty. They add wonderful flavor i I minimal amounts; but when you have too many anchovies, then you really just get overwhelmed with the salt as well as the anchovy taste, and can’t even tell anything about the rest of the pizza.
The same thing seems to apply to Caesar Dressing, a little anchovy makes the very best dressing, too much overwhelms it.

I think that if a person has a lot of salty meat like pepperoni, sausage, or Canadian bacon, that would make the pizza even worse. I prefer the veggies on mine.
