Sadly, I think we all know someone, or many someones, that act that way. One of my cousins daughters had lived with her boyfriend for a few years. The daughter and boyfriend decided they wanted to get married and have the big wedding. They wanted to put on the invitations, "no gifts, just cash" and the mother said, NO! You cannot do that. Needless to say, I didn't give them cash. What is wrong with people? They have no shame!
Not traditional for sure, mine 2won't be asking for cash, but they will have all the bells and whistles. But then they worked for it and can afford it. I wish we could go but not going to make the trip till we'er totally over this cold.
I remember my mom talking about the bridal showers she had. There was a kitchen shower, a linen shower, a lingerie shower...I can't remember after that. I think back then, multiple showers were the norm. It must have been exhausting!
This is why I'm glad to be a guy. We just have the "Let's go out and get drunk" shower, with the shower being optional. By the way: welcome to the forum! You'll enjoy yourself here. Boy, you should have seen the latrines on our airfield on a Monday morning, the papa sons didn't maintain the latrines on the weekends. The Stars & Stripes became the paper of choice for many.
You can't take it with you, besides who bizwax is it hoe they spend their well earne3d money anyway? Look at all the jobs these type weddings create and people they employ. Planners, bakers, dress makers, caterers, etc,etc,etc,. At least they aren't asking for donations or on welfare. I couldn't care less how they spend their money. My point was that they were soliciting DONATIONS for people to pay for their over-the-top honeymoon. If you want to contribute I'll see if I can find their begging page and feel free to send as much as you like.
Oh, I didn't attend. I wasn't traveling to New Orleans for that, and they are lucky I sent a gift at all.
