Anyone still drinking lots of sugar free diet or regular colas, sprites, root beers or other soda drinks? I made the switch over to Polar seltzers with my lunches over the past summer.
I do, in the summer, and off and on throughout the year. I've tried several seltzers and don't like them.
I have never liked any diet drink; can't abide artificial sweeteners of any kind. I have an occasional "real" Coke and I buy those little 7 oz cans for myself. I mostly drink water, coffee and an occasional beer.
I don't drink diet soft drinks in order to diet. The non-diet drinks make me feel uncomfortably bloated.
I drink mostly water, occasionally I'll get the urge for soda but I would never drink diet soda because of the health risk associated with diet sweeteners. With breakfast I'll drink orange juice and coffee.
I have a Sodastream, and some of the flavorings for it. Mostly, I just make the plain sparkling water because I enjoy the “zing” of carbonation; but sometimes I will make flavored ones to have along with a meal, or just because I feel like having something different to drink. I use filtered water for the Sodastream, so I know that I am getting water that is fairly pure, which they say is not true with most commercial carbonated drinks from the stores. There are no empty cans or plastic bottles left over this way either; so overall, the Sodastream works perfectly for me. It is simple to use, and I just swap out the empty container at walmart when I need a refill. My Sodastream package from Amazon came with two carbonation containers and three 1-liter bottles, so I always have chilled water ready in the fridge when i want pop to drink.
I don't drink soda, except an occasional ginger ale or coke if I am feeling queasy, and then it's only a few sips. I use to drink diet soda in my early 20's (Tab). I gave up all that soda drinking decades ago.
Ditto, they're great to "settle" the stomach, I shake or stir the soda to get most of the carbonation out.
I have a similar feeling. With me, it's probably psychological. I just think of all the calories wasted on pure sugar. If there were no diet soft drinks, I wouldn't drink any of them. I got used to the taste of diet drinks long ago. They seem normal to me now.
Nope. I used to like cream soda or Schweppes tonic water but for the last 8 years or so all I drink is either coffee or my own concoction of EAA’s, BCAA’s, Creatine, Citulline Malate, Vitamin C and sometimes Niacin when I want to flush out the capillaries. 8-10 cups of coffee in the morning and about 3-4 quarts of my concoction per day. The last GOOD (not too sweet) cream soda I had was in Seattle and can’t remember the brand name and as for the tonic water, I’ve found it being too sweet anymore. Edit: John reminded me of Fresca. I did like that too but again, it got too sweet.
I only drink water and coffee, with the occasional unsweetened iced tea at a restaurant. If I'm out & about and get a fast food combo meal, I either take it home to eat with well water or I upgrade the soda to bottled water. (Popeyes will let you swap the drink for a second biscuit.) When I moved here 12 years ago I bought a 12 pak of Coke, a 12 pak of Orange Crush and a 12 pak of Ginger Ale, just to "have around." I think I have 35 cans of soda remaining.
My ex-mother in law used to drink Tab. She admitted to a significant cyclamate addiction and really struggled to quit. I liked Fresca, then switched to unsweetened grapefruit juice (Tropicana.)
