OK, who do you think was the best ? Not trying to start a war .... but opposing opinions are how we learn.
You won't get a war out of me. "Best" depends on what your priorities are, but I would say none of them... it's always the lesser of the evils. They all seem to have the same goals/agenda, which is to further their career and extend the reach of their party, and not necessarily to help the American people. I'd like to believe that presidents or most politicians start out with good intentions but once they get into the machine of politics they become corrupt, quit, or go with the status quo. As far as the economy (which is a huge deal to me), I consider Bill Clinton the most successful president in my time. When I was younger and busy raising my family I didn't pay much attention to politics, but other than his failed morals I did like Clinton at that time. Here's a previous thread on that topic... https://www.seniorsonly.club/threads/who-do-you-consider-was-our-last-great-president.19448/
I just read that Trump's campaign advisors are urging him to postpone his "big announcement" until after the GA runoff election. They want the GOP focus to be on Herschel, so good luck with that. Meanwhile on "Truth Social"... "Now that the election in Florida is over, and everything went quite well, shouldn't it be said that in 2020, I got 1.1 Million more votes in Florida than Ron D got this year, 5.7 Million to 4.6 Million? Just asking?" Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
These continuous reports of an out-of-control ego and juvenile remarks should give people pause and warrant some serious questions, IMHO. I do understand that you may need a good size ego to run for a high public office; however, you should be in control of that ego.
I won't go into , good, better, best .... Frankly it just doesn't matter. I will say that it is very likely Trump [@ this point] is just un-electable....jmo If Desantis is on the ticket [2024] , he will likely get my vote.
He's still at it. Maybe he will antagonize enough people with this nonsense to deny him any chance at a nomination... Donald Trump on Friday morning went after another popular Republican governor — Glenn Youngkin of Virginia — in what seemed like a warning meant to dissuade him from seeking the presidency in 2024. “Young Kin (now that’s an interesting take. Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, his proprietary social media network. It is not clear why he falsely insinuated that Youngkin was of Chinese ancestry (the origins of the governor’s name are Germanic), but Trump has a record of rhetoric against China and Chinese people."
I thought Youngkin had a mature response:to Trump's stupid and childish remarks. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) on Friday shrugged off a recent barb from former President Trump, who lashed out at him as speculation builds that Youngkin might run for the White House in 2024. “Listen, you all know me. I do not call people names,” the governor told reporters. “I really work hard to bring people together … That’s not the way I roll and not the way I behave.” Source Edit Note: I think Trump's gone beyond his "sell-by" date.
I love how both DeSantis and Youngkin take the high road; DeSantis just ignores Trump. My husband has been a huge Trump supporter (registered Republican) since 2015; even he is getting disgusted with the childish antics. Never thought I'd see the day.
I haven't seen polls on the reaction to Youngkin remarks, but every time he opens his mouth on DeSantis, his numbers drop. He is going to make himself a sad figure and ruin the legacy he created during his presidency if he continues this.
What he needs to do is stop running around making enemies and disaffecting potential supporters with his juvenile rhetoric.
If he would have just questioned 2020 , then accept the results, worked to maintain the party . IMO he would hsve a good chance of both nomination & election. But his mouth is his worst enemy and [again opinion] he's killing himself.
