That's a great card, @Chrissy Page. I'm hopeful that he's just in the hospital. I know it sounded as if his finances are tight, and I doubt he has a smart phone or tablet to take advantage of free wifi at a hospital. Hopefully he's getting all fixed up, and will be back home soon, and pop in to visit us.

My friend who was just in the hospital was seeing a doctor and shopping in a different town the other day. He has a very cheap little cell phone, although he has very new, up to date technology at home. I talked him into visiting the ER on his way home the other night, so he didn't have any of that with him. He usually will pack a bag if he's visiting the ER, and will take his laptop and old smart phone that he can use with wifi. Shortly after going to the ER, they decided to transfer him to another city, with a higher level hospital/ER. He was fortunate they let him sneak out and grab his charging cell phone, so he could call me. He didn't have his kids' numbers in that phone, since he's usually at home, and rarely uses that phone. I don't have their numbers either, so he was out of touch for the weekend, other than with me. Although I tried contacting his daughter on Facebook, she isn't on my friend's list, and either didn't get my message (probably the case) or ignored it. I'm hoping that the situation is similar with Ike, and he's just out of pocket for a bit.

Until Feb. 29, Ike posted almost everyday on Facebook. Think his last post here is Mar. 1 or 2.

He is definitely without a computer. Or for whatever reason can't.

Wait til whatever issue is resolved and he sees this post. yikes! Just kidding, he's a good sport. :)

Well this answers my question, then. I was hoping... well yeah, I was hoping. I'll be reading back over the posts here to see where/to whom you wrote, @Chrissy Page because I haven't read posts yet . I was truly hoping we could be celebrating Ike's return by the time I got back.

I sent the card to his address, assuming it was a correct one, Mari.

I know I'm too late to answer your question, :D but absolutely I'm ok with it... let's hope he yells at us all for worrying so much. You hear me, @Ike Willis ? You yell all you want when you get back here.

I've given someone who was willing to call his phone number and name in a PM. No answer. She also PM'd his son on FB and no answer the last I heard.

There isn't much activity of close family members on FB so it's hard to tell anything really.

This entire dialog underscores the difficulty in getting word to someone previously "reachable". Once, we had to call the local Sheriff to dispatch a Deputy to a person's house having no telephone service, to advise of a death in the family.

It's clear to me if Ike does ever show up here again....he will know that people care about him. :) Even if he "fusses" at all of us.

Reminds me of something that happened to me last fall.
I had someone from the Sheriff's office and a Chaplain show up at my front door on a Sunday afternoon .. They never called.
They insisted that they come in and have a few words with me .... ???? .. I had to go put my dogs away.
So, after we were all seated, and me being confused by the whole situation... the Chaplain asks .. do you know a Susan .....? Me ...No. "Oh, okay, thank you for your time" ... and out they went.
We could have taken care of this at the front door! I just found it upsetting, and it made me mad thinking back on it. The drama was a bit much.
The whole neighborhood was outside after they left, wanting to know why I had a police car and a chaplain's car in my driveway....

Plus the fact most of us are afraid to let people online really know us, or about us. It makes sense to be careful because who knows any of us well enough to even give out a phone number. It's a scary world. Even in the offline world, how many weirdos do we meet, quite a few, some of my own family have gone off the deep end:(
