The governor of Texas has declared that Texas is being invaded and has declared such under Article 1, section 10 (I think) of the U.S. constitution, which gives states the right to defend themselves from invasion from outside. As I understand it, the National Guard has been activated and a wall is no being completed along the Texas southern border. The drug cartels have been declared to be terrorists by the Texas government. Interesting stuff. No doubt the Feds will try to intervene since they have not for the most part read the Constitution and do not know what is there. Abbott is reportedly petitioning other states to join Texas in its action. Perhaps the states have had enough and a second American Civil War is underway. We'll see.

I have been reading about this for the last couple of days, and I think that it is great ! Maybe it will help stop some of the illegals coming in across Texas.
Another thing that he is doing , is sending more bus loads of the illegals elsewhere, and sending them to the sanctuary cities. The next load of them is headed for Philadelphia, so we will se how Pennsylvania likes “them apples”. They want to be sanctuary cities for the illegals, it looks like Texas will be helping them along with that dream of providing sanctuary.

I’m on my first cup of coffee but I think that might be Article IV Section IV. (1 and 10 makes it illegal for a state to enter into a truce with a foreign government but there may be an addendum that gives them the right to declare an invasion.)
“[t]he United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion…”

But to be sure, that article guarantees that the Fed will protect each state against invasion which it hasn’t been doing. As a matter of fact, a couple of states tried to use Article 42 to keep illegals out during the Covid pandemic but was revoked by some Federal judge.

I know that Kari Lake was hell on wheels about declaring the southern onslaught an invasion from a foreign country and was a plank on her platform but we see how far she got with that.

More to come (maybe) after I’ve slammed down a couple more cups of coffee.

May I suggest Postum? @Beth Gallagher has an enlightening thread concerning Postum.

No placebo in this test grouping. Hot, black and strong with no sweeteners and lots and lots of caffeine.

Yeah man, that is what I am talking about! The Alamo was lost because of the absents of caffeine. :D Gov. Abbott will get the wall built in record time by seeing the troops have a never-ending supply of hot black coffee. :)

I would definitely like to see the rest of the wall built to keep the illegals at bay but there’s something I’ve often wondered about.

It is fairly well known that dope stashed in a bag of coffee beans will go undetected so I am curious as to whether my love for Colombian coffee has aided the dope smuggling trade?
I mean,I guess that might be a good thing because if a few truckloads of coffee beans are halted at the border and found with bricks of dope and old folks like me get constipated from their lack of coffee then there’d be some senior snipers out there taking out the cartels.

To go back on topic, back in 2012 the Supreme Court handed down a verdict stating that the states cannot regulate immigration policies set forth by the Federal Government.
If that still stands and the illegals ARE declared an invasion by Abbott and others then there are bound to be a whole lotta law suits coming from those who want open borders.

It’s a stretch but the thought of Civil War over the matter will definitely be in the air. As it is, there’s been a lot of chatter regarding civil war on some of the vet sites ever since the 2020 election but I hope it stays just chatter.

I'm a fan of Governor Abbott, but it does annoy me that it's up to Texas to defend a NATIONAL border.

I use stronger words than "annoy" to describe the Texas border problem and that the Feds are basically at war wth Texas for trying to defend their personal property and state. It is treason on part of Biden and all his coup.

I got the Article 1, section 10 info from here. Supposedly it was included to allow states to prevent pirates and smugglers from establishing themselves within a state's borders. If you notice in Article 1, there is also a provision for a District to become a seat of government. That cannot become a state, no matter how much the Dems would like it.

None since Eisenhower has anyone did much to protect our sovereignty. Trump at least made it an issue unlike the ones before him. The Minute Men did too but then that went south real fast too.

I wonder how Washington will respond. Finally, he is calling up the National Guard, finishing up sections of the wall, calling up gun ships...according to youtube news reports this morning. He said he is joining with other states. It shows that states need to take back their sovereignty.

Yep, this could be the beginning of the division of a once great nation into at least two parts. If the Feds would do what they are Constitutionally supposed to do, and leave the rest to the states, things would be better.

It is just sad that Texas has to take on burdens that should fall on the Feds.
