Having taken over most of the cooking duties at a very late age, I am always on the lookout for things to make the job easier, faster or more tasty. The Instant Pot was God's gift to men (or women) who can't cook and I find it the most powerful weapon in my cooking arsenal. Yesterday, however, one of the twins called me and said I needed a Ninja Speedi. It seems to get good reviews but does anyone here have any knowledge of the thing?

Always interested in kitchen tools that help so if not the Speedi, then what? Looking for all the help and advice I can get on speed, ease and tasty.

I'm not familiar with the Speedi, but it appears to be an air fryer...? I like my Instant Vortex air fryer (made by Instant Pot) but honestly I don't use it very often.

Do you own a crock pot or other slow cooker? I wouldn't be without one; it's easy to dump stuff in there and walk away, letting stuff slow cook all day.

    Mine, too !
I just have to remember to start things in the morning, so they have the necessary time to cook. The things that cook food fast are great if you need to be able to come home from work and have dinner ready in a short period of time, but for me, just putting something in the crockpot and having it waiting when we want to eat works great, and is simple to do.

I have a crock pot but stopped using it in favor of the Instant Pot, which cooks things much faster. I've found I can do everything in the Instant Pot that I did in the crock pot only faster. I will certainly research air fryers. Should I get or be given a Ninja Speedi or any other device, I will report back on it.

It looks like everyone has them marked down by 20%. I do not have an Insta-Pot, but in reading the Speedi's description it seems like it's almost the same thing.

Since you use your Insta-Pot a lot, John, what features do you (and the twins) see in the Speedi that the Insta Pot doesn't have?

The Instant Pot is an electronic pressure cooker. The Speedi is an air fryer/"multi cooker"(??). https://www.reviewed.com/small-appliances/content/ninja-speedi-review

My daughter says the Speedi is no substitute for the Instant Pot, which is just a pressurized slow cooker that isn't slow. Shee said the Ninja Speedi is good for air frying/crisping meat while cooking veggies or pasta below.at the same time.

Interesting. I see it has a Sear function. Lack of being able to brown meats has always been a downside to some of these cookers.

    Maybe I'm glad I don't have a larger kitchen...

The Instant Pot can saute/sear and/or pressure cook but not both at the same time. As I understand it, The Speedi can saute/cook and air fry at the same time. Pressure cooked meat that has first been browned/seared can become fall-off-the-bone and melt-in-you-mouth tender when pressure cooked.
