So….all the city utilities guys got Friday off in preparation for the New Year so they didn’t pick up the garbage on Thursday in preparation for Friday. We got mail on Friday but nothing on Saturday and probably today because I guess their holiday goes from Saturday thru Monday. The school buses didn’t run today so the schools are probably closed until …..how the heck should I know? One of my construction working renters told me that his job site is down until Thursday for fear of rain or multiple hangovers. The neighbor across the street came down with CV on Thursday and just got home yesterday after hanging around in the ER for nearly 2 days whilst waiting for a real doctor. At the apartments catty-corner to our house, the cops and later, an ambulance showed up at around 0700 this morning. Strange but the girlfriend went to jail and the boyfriend went to the hospital. No news on talk radio because everyone took off and the only thing playing are re-runs from early last week. It would seem that the only thing working on schedule is my coffee pot. Yup…….for better or for worse, the New Year has officially started!!
It was actually a fairly quiet New Years in our neighborhood. We had some fireworks and loud firecrackers, but not as much shooting as usually happens here on holidays. We just had a quiet evening, and went to bed well before midnight. Poodle spent the evening hiding out from the loud firecrackers, so he is probably the one who is happiest that the holiday weekend is over.
