I have never taken the death of a cat easily but it gets harder as I grow older. Perhaps, it's because I have learned to communicate with them better, and now have the time to be with them more often. But it's hard, especially Cutie, since she was with me for nearly twenty-nine years. Inside cats don't often go suddenly so their passing is the result of a decision that has to be made, and it's the hardest decision in the world, and I still cry when I think of my cats.

I’ve noticed this too, and wondered about it, that it seems to be hitting me harder, the older I get.

I saved that image. Thank you very much, Kate. As hard as it is to lose my guy, he had a good life and a peaceful passing. That makes it easier.

I just read that parakeets are originally from Australia. I built a huge birdcage for the two I just adopted. I've named them Sweetie Girl and Pretty Boy. I don't know their original Aussie names. Sweetie is the yellow one.

RIP Barney. Your cat was gorgeous Dwight. Seems like he chose the right time to go, right there close to you. The night before I lost my dog she sat on the settee next to me and put her head on my chest, I knew she was leaving me.

That touches my heart. It's amazing that these 'primitive' creatures can love and that we can be included in that love.

They look allot like budgies as we call them …..and yes I believe they are native to Australia ,we have seen them in flocks of thousands out in the bush in Western Aust ……they are all green and yellow in the wild

they are related to parakeets ….however parakeets that I know of are about twice the size of a budgie @Dwight Ward ( same beaks )

    Copied this …… @Dwight Ward

Parakeets comprise about 115 species of birds that are seed-eating parrots of small size, slender build, and long, tapering tails.[3] The Australianbudgerigar, also known as "budgie", Melopsittacus undulatus, is probably the most common parakeet. It was first described by zoologists in 1891.

My Sweetie Girl is first from the left. My Pretty Boy is fourth from the left. They are so beautiful and fun to watch. Sweetie Girl likes to hang upside down by one foot. They make me laugh.

That Galah is a marvelous bird.

I got to know a mockingbird one time and would have sessions with him. He would imitate any short tune or whistle after you practiced with him a few times. City people tell me that their mockingbirds try to imitate the brakes squealing on the city garbage trucks.

Are you saying parakeets can learn to talk? It would be okay to teach the male parakeet a few words but not the female. I don't want any more sass from a woman. I get enough of that on this website.
