How’s The Weather Where You Are?

Was sunny and a high of 74 today. However windy and full of dust. Suppose to snow next Wednesday.. go figure.

 

Into the 20s F. today. We have doubled our Day length since December. On the equinox, we will be about 12 hours and 20 minutes, close to the rest of you, then we will zoom past to 20 hours of daylight by the end of June.

 

Breaking heat records all month of February and in a draught.

 

Most beautiful day EVER. Perfect temp around 70°F, light breeze, plenty of sunshine. Supposed to be 48 tonight which will probably be our last cool spell for this winter.

 

Temp around +15 F. and sunny. Temperatures at night are still below 0 F. but are expected to rise next week. The first week of March is when our weather traditionally changes to temperatures near freezing during the day, and April is when everything turns to mud.

 

We have started mud season early. Freezing at nite, thawing a little in the day. Fortunately thawing has slowed a little so the flooding/standing water is not so bad.

 

Ours will be next month I think.

 

Back down to -23 F. this morning. It is sunny, so perhaps the day will warm into the +20s again. Let's hope it does so.

 

Up to almost freezing yesterday and may reach it today. Out on the highway, it got above freezing yesterday, but not at this location. Our little greenhouse achieved 35 F. but that is because it is still mostly covered with snow. If the snow slides to the ground, the temp inside will skyrocket. The big greenhouse is buried and has a long way to go to see light. The traditional weather change appears to have started. No everyone is holding their breath as to how rapidly the snow will melt and how much flooding there will be. Most years we go from mud to fire season until the rains starting in July sometime. The fire season is the toughest for us, but we have a small lake and a big pump to defend ourselves as best we can.

 

82°F and sunny. Supposed to be in mid-80's the rest of the week.

 

Woo Hoo! It got up to 34 F. today and we saw our first melting in months. The snow has packed down and sublimated, but we haven't seen real melting until today.

 

I really like this slow thaw. Below freezing at night, slightly above during the day. One warm day a few weeks back we got an inch of rain. Flooding But it is all gone now.
Of course the driveway is all holey and puddles which will get worse.

 

It got up to 42 F. yesterday, the warmest day this year. The little greenhouse has shed its snow blanket and it was 72 F. in there, so my wife was considering spending some time in the warmth but she didn't. The south wall of the greenhouse is still blocked by the snow pile or it would be warmer in there.
We still have over 3 feet of snow on the ground, so the melting has been absorbed by the snow so far and no puddles are yet forming on our property, but the main roads are wet and messy. The big greenhouse is still snow-covered, but I was considering taking the snowmobile over and starting a fire there to help it melt.

 

WE got another six inches last night and the plow guy plowed a LOT of gravel out of the driveway and onto the lawn I suppose he couldn't help it because it was getting wet and messy last week.
Trying to figure out how to plant the bush cherries I have been nursing along to keep deer damage to a minimum. Maybe over by the highway?
