My wife watches Soaps, The Young And The Restless, and General Hospital, they did give her an escape during the 3 years of medical issues she had. I started watching with her and got hooked. Each show has multiple story lines some I enjoy, some I think are dumb. I was wondering if anyone else watches Soaps? What story line do you like or hate? A few day ago this came to mind----- As The World Turns, The Young And The Restless will visit General Hospital, because they only have One Life To Life.
Two stories from my life: 1-When I was a kid, sometimes I would stay with a neighbor after school. She was a Soap junkie. She would have 2 televisions on with different Soaps and the sound turned down, and the audio of a third playing on a radio that picked up VHF. As she watched and listened, she would iron and cry...perhaps from the stories, or maybe from confusion. 2-I walked in to work one day and two female coworkers were sitting in the break room. Blond: Did you hear about Sam? [tearfully] He's got cancer!!! Brunette: That's horrible!!! [also starts to water up] I start running through the roster of coworkers in my head, and I could not conjure up a "Sam." Me: That stinks. But who is Sam? Blond: Sam, from Days of Our Lives! He's got cancer!!! [sobs some more] Soaps elevate wrestling to the stature of Profiles In Courage. And that's all I got to say about that.
I've never watched it my wife loved "Dark Shadows", she found a station that showed the reruns & watch them.
I watched some old reruns a while back and was shocked by how cheesy it was. I guess I was a lot easier to entertain 50 years ago.

I liked Dark Shadows too. I use to watch Young and The Restless and General Hospital for years, way back when. Long, long ago, when VCR‘s were first invented, ha, I use to record the soaps and watch them on weekends so I could zap through all the commercials. But I haven’t watched soaps in eons.
My grandmother was addicted to all the soaps from back when they were only 15 minutes long. When she came to visit from WV we had to watch them with her. I never followed any of them until one time back in the late 1980s. There was a promotion on TV about Marlena (Diedra Hall) coming back from the dead. "Don't miss it, coming soon on Days of Our Lives." It kept playing over and over and made me curious. Who the heck is Marlena anyway? So I watched Marlena come back. Well, they sort of left a few things hanging, unanswered (well, duh ), so I'll watch it one more time, etc, etc, etc.... Also liked Victor (John Aniston, father of Jennifer Aniston). I ended up watching it religiously for a couple of years. Taped the show every day to watch at night. Life got in the way and I finally lost interest.
