You might need to start with small amounts of kombucha at first, if you think it might be what is affecting your stomach, @Janine Coral . I did not have a problem, maybe because I have already been getting a lot of fermented foods and my gut is used to it; but I did read that it can happen. According to what I read, the good probiotic bacteria and yeasts in the kombucha literally attack and kill the bad bacteria, and it is then flushed out of your body, which can cause gut issues, and having bathroom trips more than normal. The information was to start with about a half cup (4 oz) and then gradually build up so that you do not flush out a lot of the dead bacteria all at once and get sick from that.
Hi Hi again Yvonne, Well, I think then that you are likely correct on the Kambucha having had contributed to some of my gut sickness at least, and flair up yesterday. I had the intake of 8 ounces at lunch, and it was no more than 30 min later, oh dear. My system is used to fermented foods, yogurts etc, fermented sauerkraut and these type thing set well with me. So just have to be careful and attentive to all the things related to my present food and fluid intake/health. Thank You, Yvonne
We had a "brunch" today which is unusual for us. I made biscuits and sausage patties, so "sausage biscuits" and a bowl of sliced strawberries. That was around 1 p.m. so we aren't hungry; I'll probably make some potato soup or something around 5-ish.
I got a taste for fried chicken last night, but when I saw that Popeyes charges $3 per piece ($22 for an 8 piece bucket w/o sides), I went to Walmart and bought a chicken to fry tonight. It's in the brine now. It's a small victory for someone who remembers when whole chickens cost 49ยข/pound. At least it came with the heart & liver. I wish grocery store fried chicken was worth a spit...both flavor and price. It's such a pain to make.
Today, I made liver and onions, with green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and potatoes. We both like liver, and i am going to try and make it more often.
All beef no nitrate or nitrite Angus hot dogs grilled to perfection with homemade potato salad. I have sampled the potato salad and it is as good as it gets. I tried less mayonnaise and more mustard. I just finished a bowl of Oregon raspberry swirl ice cream for my supper desert. I always eat my desert, if I have one, an hour before supper.
I think we need a rule here at Seniors only .... that states if you are going to post such delicious menus for supper .... It should include your adress as well.!!!! YUM,YUM.
