Thats me too Hedi, I've heard all kinds of music all my life from musicians in the family. In The Mood,
I do like some classical music. Classical music reminds me of the old cartoons, when cartoons were still good! I like all kinds of music though, except rap and that kind of music ,but mostly I am an old rock and roll music kind of gal.
Music is good for the soul and sometimes the body too. Krystal I don't care for rap either except for about 3 songs that I like to exercise to or one I like for its sound tract 'Dangerous Minds' staring Michell Pfiefer. This is a nice old classic,
I remember back in the '50s I had a record album called storms in high fi. It contains all classical pieces that had fire and brimstone. I don't remember the names of all the tracks but one of them was the William Tell Overture which if you're familiar with it, starts with a very light raindrops which builds up into a storm and then returns to a light raindrop exit. I know one track was the Russian saber dance, most of the music on that album was thunderous. I also had an album by Billy Rose who took classical music and put it in big band swing form it was fabulous. I've also had a couple of albums that they took pop music and played it as classical pieces. I do have a few classical albums that I'll play when I want to relax I love listening to the strings. I do listen to Opera also especially Verdi.
Tony, I like all kinds of music except most rap and not a lot of Blue Grass or that may seem like radical change, but when its music with an agenda I detest it. All music is beautiful to me but lately it is not used for enjoyment but for agenda to change. I also like all people long as they visit, go home or enter legally and assimilate.
I too like all kinds of music and do not like rap also. Had very little experience with bluegrass, I do mow the green grass. I do not listen to music with a political agenda, unless it's for America and patriotic. I love Christmas music I have about 50 to 60 CDs, and all the beautiful standards. For the half hour or hour I listen to music each day it's my vacation away from the headaches of daily life. I try to treat everyone as I want to be treated but those that push me my just get a harder push back.
This movie, a rendition of towards the end of Beethoven's life, puts an ache in my heart. This man, who was totally deaf by then, wrote all the parts for the musical instruments and choir for this symphony. He could hear them in his head. But when it came to conducting the actual orchestra, he could not hear the real players to pull them all together. So, his assistant conducted him! Most of his great works were done after he lost his hearing! Amazing And then, without classical music, what would the Lone Ranger be without the 1812 Overture?
I think the Lone Ranger theme was Rossini's The William Tell Overture. As @Krystal Shay said, the old cartoons were full of all sorts of classical music. Flight of the Valkyries: "Kill the Wabbit, Kill the Wabbit, Kill the Wabbit..."
I like listening to some classical music - the really old stuff from the 16th century. I had it shoved down my throat as a child & played for several years. When I was 4, some professors told my mom I was a "Child Prodigy." Now, I play just for fun: Mendelssohn - "Sweet Remembrance:
Impressive, Tony. I always wanted to play ragtime; I love Scott Joplin tunes but that's another thread.
I used to play organ, nothing this elaborate but it was two full keyboards and a full radiating pedal board.
