Question: So ... if a plane crashed exactly on the border of the United States and Canada, where would they bury the survivors? Answer: Hopefully they will only bury the deceased and not the survivors.
What it means to me is that people are losing the ability to reason and use logic which is what most of what an IQ test reveals.
When you use a calculator rather than a times table or pencil & paper, you don't learn abstract thinking.
I've taken several IQ tests and some were partially about what you had learned about history, literature, psychology and the like. As such they were more of a measure of cultural exposure rather than intelligence. Reason and logic are such a simple things. It's sad that some have no clue. Deductive: This is true + this is true. Therefore a new thing is true. The basis of the physical sciences. Logic. Inductive: Such and such has been true 100 times. Therefore it is probably true in general. The basis of the social sciences. Reason. Logic and reason are related but not the same. Logic leans more towards physical processes and supports reason. Reason could involve the physical but also the human and social. That's my interpretation but I'm no pundit on these issues. Am I close?
Ok, I get knee pads to protect skinned knees but did THAT many little kids get brain injuries from riding their bikes? On top of that, we fell out of a tree, or whatever, and broke an arm. Went in for a plaster cast. Now it is some three d printed or manufactured apperatis they put on arms legs and feet. ????
