Today, I went to sign in to my gmail account and could not. I have my info written in a book in my home, not a busy office. I know my phone number by heart as a backup. The strange part is when they asked for it, giving me the last two numbers as a prompt, one of them was wrong. So my actual phone number did not work. I keep my security to a minimum. To keep google out; although I only use gmail for deed theft alerts through our county register of deeds. It is like 'Deed Lock'. Google have told me I should upload my security, which I have not done. My phone number did not work to get me in! You can't cancel your gmail account but you can open a new one which I will do. Can I change my address here? You have the old account on file. Anyway, I went to the google page they sent me to and google was written, as usual. But the rest of the letters there were in Chinese. ???? Open a new account with the Chinese characters there?
OK. I got a gmail account through youtube without chinese characters. But someone messed up my phone number from my original account and it was no one from here.
If you go to Your Account/Settings/Contact Details, you can change your email address there. A note under that field says "If you change your email, you may need to reconfirm your account." I would assume that means that you get an email from the system asking for your password to make sure it's really you making the change.
I always have trouble logging into G-mail. Isn't it combined with another Google related account? If you forget the password and change it on one, it gets changed on the other. Could be I'm wrong, though. But I guess that doesn't have anything to do with your phone number. Don't mind me, I'm just talking.
When I first got a cell phone, the folks at the store created a GMail account for my backup contact list to be saved to. It was dome for my droid, then they set another one up for my Apple. No one asked if I wanted a different email provider (Yahoo, etc.) Doesn't YouTube require a GMail account if you want to comment or verify age?
I could not get to my gmail because my PHONE was changed in the prompt and I had not done it. You can't talk to anyone because that does not fall under any of the help or info. They said my password was wrong but I have them all in a book. I know what it was. They had me go to get a new gmail account and there is where the Chinese letters came up. When you go to youtube, you can open a gmail account there, so I did. Yes you need and account to comment but they let you open one there so you don't get away. and there were no chinese letters there. Now I have to go to town to talk to the Registrar of Deeds.
Quadruple check the url. One way I have for identifying phishing attempts is to look at the return email address. Then, too, I recognize accounts are easy to break into. So I am ready to accept the loss and notify, by other means, everyone who is a vulnerable contact on that account. I never trust emails with Chinese characters unless it is obviously related to one of my chinese language apps.
My account didn't work till about an hour ago, I signed out cleared history and now it is working, Jakes chrome Wifi worked fine but all I got was a black screen that said not connected.
Our server goes down off and on and the internet and cable won't work. One minute it is connected, the next off, the next on... Sometimes it is weather, sometimes it is gremlins...
In general, try to stay away from Google and gmail. They are nothing but NWO spyware. I don't know who to use for privacy, though. My own email is a gmail account. I just don't care anymore if I get on their enemies list. F..k them.
I feel the same way. But they find ways to niggle into our lives. If you want to leave a comment or question on youtube, signing on puts you on google. My phone forced me on google. I use startpge.com. my daughter uses duckduckgo. ???
