Strangely enough, this isn't from The Onion.

This puts new life into the saying, "pushing up daisies." However, just when I was beginning to think that this sounded awfully green, I found that they will be bioengineered, so instead of spreading lead over the earth, they'll be planting GMO crops everywhere.

Metallic bullets used militarily contain a lead core, surrounded, often completely, sometimes with only a small portion exposed, by a copper (usually) "jacket". Only expanding type bullets peel away the jacket upon impact, that action intended to enhance tissue-damaging effects; such bullets are universally forbidden for use in war. The lead problem thus seems to be overblown, IMO.

Whatever ammo you need, I hope you have it already. Winchester has put out a bulletin that all .556 ammo will now be dedicated to the military. I know nothing about other manufacturers, but I assume others will be doing the same with .50 BMG also should you need such. Prices are reported to be rising faster than oil whose price may go to hundreds of dollars per barrel if OPEC decides to sanction us for supporting Israel.

If oil goes up, so does everything that is transported, so good luck....

Virginia Polytechnic Institute did a study a while ago that showed that lead bullets are rapidly encased by some type of corrosion and never leech into the soil. For goodness sake, people are still picking up completely intact grapeshot from the Civil War...it does not dissolve or erode.

Oh pulleeeze. Have you seen the billowing smoke from battlefields and bombings. The raging fires?
Which puts out more greenhouse gasses; my gasoline powered Matrix? Or war (including skirmishes)?

What the world needs now is a
    Metallic Non-Proliferation Treaty!

If all nations would agree to get rid of their environment damaging metallic weaponry, and agree to limit international combat to pointy sticks and snowballs - talk about biodegradable! - we could reverse this Climate Crisis in less than a century or two.
