Well after two days of heavy rain today is sunny but a coldish wind, temp 55F Today the 5th of November is Bonfire night where the English burn effigies of Catholics. So should warm up a bit to night.
It is a gorgeous sunny Fall day. I am enjoying sitting outside on the porch watching the leaves gently fall off some of the trees, and the leaves on our maple trees are starting to turn into stunning colors.
Our snow scare is gone with warmer temps this weekend. I could put in a few more bulbs (tulip and daffodils.)
Very, very windy!! Last time wife and I seen wind like this was in Douglas, Wyoming and in Jacksonville, Florida. The palm trees here look like a tropical storm or hurricane is happening. And, dust in the air. The area over by Lake Mead National Recreational Area looks like Dust Bowl! Lake Mead probably has "white-cap" waves on it.
We're in the middle of an Indian Summer. The temps are pushing 80°F most of this week, after having had a few overnight lows near 20°F. Starting Friday the overnight lows are gonna be down in the 30s, but that's still warmer than it should be this time of the year.
Snow stopped at about 4 inches. They are predicting a so-called "giant storm" coming off the Bering Sea tomorrow with heavy snow in the morning changing to mix or rain in the PM. If it all stay snow, I may have to mount the snowblower mentioned in the other thread. Temps in the 20s F. at the moment with sun brightly shining on the snow cover and the trees are lacy with snow. A very pretty time.
32 F. and still snowing lightly. Received about 8 inches of heavy wet snow overnight, so I was out plowing for the first time this morning so my wife can out for church if she chooses to do so. Schools are on Zoom and several highways are closed due to accidents. It is very slippery because of the character of the snow, but most of us are able to deal with it fine, even at our advanced ages. Snowblower not on yet, but I don't know how well it would deal with this heavy wet stuff. I did forget to put the chains on thought. That was a big error on my part. Wife managed to get over to both orchards to knock the snow off the trees to keep the branches from breaking. Time to get the snowmachine out....
It is a lovely sunny day today. It would be warm if it wasn't so windy. Next week it is supposed to be into the low 60's!!!!
