Sliced pickles stuck to the kitchen celing are indeed a conversation piece. Pure art.

    Perfect!

Similar to those, I've used a pipe wrench (when I can find it) on things like cans of glue (think pvc adhesive).

    Absolutely!
As a side, the dreaded pipe wrench has also been a handy go-to tool for “who done it” mystery writers as a murder weapon.

Ms. Plum used a pipe wrench in the kitchen to open Colonel Mustard's lid.

Lest I forget, I have been known to go for an old standby….the oil filter removal band wrench, for removing larger stuck lids

Along those same lines, I was wondering if a strap wrench might suffice:

    I can’t see why not!
All those neat inventions just to remove the lid off of a jar and all one need do is to look in a man’s toolbox.

I once had a feminist coworker who said men were only good for two things and one was opening jars.

OK, true confessions. I use a can opener. Not to open the jar but to whack it all the way around the top. Indentations just deep enough to release the vacuum. It is an older, american made can opener and has some heft to it. Kinda related to your fine metric tools.

After I whack the pee-pee out of the lid with the end of a flatware knife and see all those tiny dents, I wonder if I've loosened it or if I've crimped it on tighter.
