    I thought this was interesting:

You cook 2 different items in the same oval 6 qt Crock Pot at once.

$39 at Amazon. That's just $1 less than a new 7 qt. Crock Pot.

Well, here I am back in my favorite thread. :D Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in!! All the fresh herbs I've been growing in the Aerogardens need to be dried for storage. I could use the dehydrator function on my Breville oven, but I hate to run that oven for extended periods. Sooooo, I've been perusing Amazon for a small dehydrator. I don't have room or want to spend the money on a larger one, so I'm thinking of this... CLICKETY!

That looks like a perfect little dehydrator for drying the aerogarden herbs, @Beth Gallagher ! I have a larger older dehydrator (yard sale special) and I used that when drying the oregano and the comfrey and Bobby’s mullein. Then I either crunched it with my hinads for small pieces, or put it in the blender for a quick buzz to powder it, depending on which I wanted to do.

I recently helped with a bbq fundraiser. We made food for over 200 people. The sides were Cole Slaw and Macaroni Salad, so there was tons of chopping up celery, onions, peppers, carrots, etc. One of the guys brought this:

    chopper.jpg

We had an assembly line going. I cut the veggies down so they would fit, and he ran them through the chopper. The chopper may have saved a little time, but the largest benefit was that all the pieces were uniform in size. If I were making soup or something like that, uniformity would not be a concern. But for sides that contain raw veggies, it's nice to not have big hunks of stuff in it.

Strawberry “greens” are very nutritious, @John Brunner . I hope you are at least adding those tops to your soup or salad and not wasting the most important part of the strawberry ?
(Chuckling softly to myself as I type this)

I'm saving them in the freezer to send to @Beth Gallagher as a chard garnish.

I've never seen one like the pic I posted. Looks like a lot of strawberry is wasted by coring the entire thing like that.

I, too, have an OXO huller, and it works fine:

The button on the back pushes a plunger to eject the hull, and you can disassemble the thing to clean it.
