I just need to vent. I live in a condo. I was sitting here watching a movie and this bid guy comes out of the bushes and tears down my birdfeeders. I ran outside and asked him what the hell was he doing. He started towards me, I went back inside and got one of my guns and just stood at my door. He saw the gun and took off. He was across the street and started calling me names and said he would kill me and then he went around another building.

I ran outside, barefoot, no coat, jumped in my car to try and see which condo he went in and he’s sitting on his porch. The condo board preside was outside and I drove up to him and jumped out and he could tell something was wrong. The crazy guy starts yelling and calling me names again, so the president took me in his unit and called the police and the crazy guy’s dad.

Turns out he’s schizophrenic and off his meds. They’ve tried to have him commited, but since he turned 18, they haven’t been able to. The police were going to try and take him to a mental health hospital because he threatened to kill me.

And a Merry Christmas to me!

That is really scary ! I am glad that you are okay, too, and hope that the police will keep him either in jail or send him for mental help. I would be shaking, too, and it is good that the condo president was there to help you out and get the police right away.
If that guy lives there, they will probably evict him and his family since he threatened to kill you.

Be careful, and I am so glad nothing bad came of it. Since you are alone, you might want to get a restraining order if he isn't evicted. A gun in hand is still the best option if you are able and prepared to use it. When my wife received death threats, she carried for a while, but now she doesn't as I don't think she would be willing to shoot a person...then the gun can b taken and used against you. Good options are pepper spray or tasers, as you are much more likely to be willing to use a non-lethal deterrent.

Or you could get that guy who plays Jack Reacher on Amazon to move in next door;)

Thanks everyone. I just called the police and he's been taken away, hopefully to a mental health facility and he gets back on his medication.
I wish I could get him evicted, but his parents own the condo he lives in with his mom. His dad lives in another condo in the complex to get away from him. The board president called his dad and he came right over. He was crying and kept apologizing to me. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place! Geez!

Hard rocks ass- you have the manager or police or someone do something. Please, I mean skip the tears and apology. In this day and age we cant let these things go.Someone must be held accountable for his behavior if he can not. IMO

I’m an ex-cop and a retired vet, including four years in the Marines. I am also a retired Fed who had her life threatened more than once. Things change as we age. We feel more vulnerable, less prepared to deal with crap like this. So, unless you’ve recently been through something like this, please don’t tell me how tough you would be.

Jan, I don't think I would've said that to Heidi (in red above). Members here don't necessarily talk that way to another member. Then again, I worked with, as an EMT, not for, law enforcement before and know how tough they can be as well as former Marines.

I am sure that Hedi was only being concerned about your welfare, and your not being attacked again by the neighbor guy, @Jan Ahlmann . She didn’t say anything about her self being tough.
She just meant that the guys father crying and apologizing does NOT make the situation okay, or over with, and something needs to happen to him to protect your safety.

Plus, if this guy attacked and threatened you just out of the blue like he did, he is a danger to everyone else that lives in the neighborhood, or that he came into contact with anywhere.
We are ALL on your side with this Jan, and just trying to support your getting this guy removed and put away somewhere for treatment.

Definitely not taking sides but I think Hedi was referring to the guy’s father too. At least that’s how it read to me.

On the other hand, if Jan has spent some time on that forum where I think she has been she is used to being attacked. It’s different here but it takes a little while to realize that.

    From Ken the admin.....

    1. Try not to be too offensive.
    2. Try not to be too easily offended.
    3. Play well with others.
