We are moving in a few days after 30 years in this house. We are moving from 4,200 sq. ft. total to just under 2,000. We’ll convert the porch to a 4 seasons room after we move in but still much smaller. We had to get ruthless and, as of right now, neither of us are feeling much regret about auctioning, selling or just disposing of stuff we clung to out of sentimentality. When the pressure is on, it’s a lot easier to let go.
Do you know your brother's plan to get YOU in your box and close to your dad? My neighbor had her brother's remains in her kitchen cupboard and when she died a few yrs ago I'm wondering who did her remains...she did NOT have money...
Here is the Franciscan pattern I had, but it's all gone and broken I guess https://www.replacements.com/china-franciscan-heritage/c/24892
I collected Hummels for a lot of years but I don't know where they are, maybe at my daughter's but I really don't care about them now.
The two of us and 3 cats. It’s a 2 bedroom, 2 bath house, pretty big 2 car attached garage, single story on a slab. We liked the layout a lot, much better than anything else we saw. The only minus is there’s not a lot of wall space because it has a lot of windows.
Thomas--I hope you are all moved and settling into the new place. Check in when you catch your breath.
All I care about are my pets. They can do what they want with the non-living stuff. I had a discussion with my vet about Daisy Dog if anything happens to me. Thankfully she agreed with me that Daisy would be put to sleep. As the vet said, I go above and beyond what most people can’t or would do for her, and she can tell how attached she is to me and that she probably wouldn’t make it without me. My cats are seven and my neighbor will see that they find a good home.
Landfill eventually. I watched as two foreclosed houses were being cleaned out everything was just thrown into the vehicles and trailer, I asked the people clearing out what would happen to it landfill they said. They couldn't even take things that had some value everything was being pitched. Myself, I don't care I'll be stone-dead, but I am struggling to dispose of my wife's belongings,
If I go first, my lady friend/SO can have all the personal stuff- furniture, car, etc. If it's in the house or car, it's all hers. My grandsons, both 30ish, have zero interest in Grandpa's stuff and I don't blame them. They will, though, be willing to take the $$. lol - they were raised right! Should my SO go first, I'll probably have a giant estate/moving sale, and what doesn't sell goes to whichever charity picks up stuff. The only exception to the above is my 9mm Glock, which will go to my youngest grandson.
I used to be concerned about where my nice quality stuff would go and I finally gave up on the attachment message...I'll be stone gone so I should worry??? Nope. Glad I am not an animal person as that is a big one for many.....
You have 7 cats in your life??? Just thinking of a cat makes me itch and having them sleep on my bed...omg................
No, @Joy Martin ; what she said was that her cat was seven years old, not that she has seven of them. We have quite a few people here who have cats; but I don’t think that anyone has seven of them, except maybe @Mary Stetler , who has farm cats.
