Our morning routine is after her walk she gets her OraVet treat. Sometimes, she tries to feign exhaustion so we cut the walk short so she gets the treat sooner, but I'm onto that trick.

I don't just give her the treat, I hide it. It's fun watching her nose at work! Lately, she's been finding the treat, leaving it, and coming over to me for more scratches, then pretending to look for it again. She'll do this three or four times, obviously because she gets no attention from me otherwise. Just ask her, she'll tell you how I only pay attention to the evil little black cats!

    Daisy sounds delightful.

Do we own them or do they own us? The answer in this house is clearly the latter. There are evil black and white cats here and they work together to keep things running as they think they should go.

My little dog used to hide treats so he always had a "stash." If I didn't do his bidding, he'd just go find one of his hidden treats, making sure to show me.

A few months after he died I was sweeping dust bunnies out from under the bed and one of his little treats rolled out. I sat in the floor, crying that ugly cry. It's been 6 years and I can still hear his little feet on the stairs.

Daisy sounds like a character and a great companion. Dogs are the best.

Our dogs (Poodle and Rusty) also look forward to getting treats. Most of the time, it is the small Milkbone biscuits, soft one for Marco Poodle because he is little and getting older.
They are usually ready to come in, but for encouragement, we often give them a treat when they run to the door and come back inside. Now, if they see either me or Bobby in the kitchen, they both want to go outside, just so that they can come back in immediately, and hopefully, have that wonderful dog biscuit.

Before bed, they each get a little bite of bologna (I buy it by the 5 lb roll for them); so as soon as the sun goes down, they eagerly try to let me know that it is time for bologna, and (of course) want to dash out and right back in.

Poodle has one of the soft indoor dog houses, which is right beside the bed next to me, and that is his Poodle Cave, and where he sleeps all night. Bobby gets up much earlier than I do (why would anyone want to get up in the DARK anyway ?), and as soon as Bobby is up, then Poodle jumps up on the bed and keeps me company.

After Chipper, my Heart Dog, passed away, I realized that though Chipper was never replaceable, I missed just having a little dog to sit by me and get petted; so I got Poodle, and I am glad that I did.
He was an adult dog when I got him, and I didn’t have to go through all of the puppy-training stuff, and Poodle was glad to have a home and be loved; so it worked out good for both of us.
