We put up our 5 ft. fake tree, with lights installed on it. My wife decorated it while I set up our entire Christmas Village on our dining room table. We decorated our bar with Christmas decor, including a string of lights. Put up a non-lighted Wreath on our front door and a lighted Wreath on our patio storage door. Had a bin full of outdoor lights to decorate our patio, but never got to that. Some of the residents did decorate their patios, but many did not. Now, right after New Years Day, everything will go back into plastic storage bins. One time, when living in the "bungalow" (1-story apartment at the end of building) in Jacksonville, Florida, we really went all out in decorating. Inside and outside, including the bottom of the roof with strings of lights. That was some 8 years ago. Done the same in the house we use to have. Both inside and outside Christmas decor/lights. This was in Parker, Colorado and we had a "White Christmas" that year. Again, years ago!
As I have written before, my wife decorates for the seasons. Christmas is her big one, but she also is big on Halloween, and less so Thanksgiving and Easter. We have lights outside on timers that are on for 8 hours after sunset. She has remote control electronic candles and inside lights in timers too. We had a son who was into decorating too, and he put light-up reindeer on the roof with one of our dogsleds behind. The unfortunate thing then was there was nobody here to see the outside decorations. We have a few neighbors now, so there are a few more lights. A couple ladies built a vacation house across the little lake, and they have lights outlining their trail through the woods to their dock on the lake.
I would do something like that. When I ran an extension cord to the permanent battery maintainer in my truck, I picked up a 10' stick of 1 1/2" PVC pipe to run the cord through where it exits the garage. It's Brain Fart insurance. I got the same issue with hoses.
My new day and year got off to a not so happy one. Short version- my inhaler is $469 this month. i do not have that and have been denied any assistance in lowering the price from the drug provider. I get really tired tiring to be financially sufficient only to be shot down again with something out of my control. Yea, I can charge it,not what i want to do. Tears later- I am fine.
I am so sorry to hear of your inhaler crisis. I have been aware of shortages of inhalers nationwide as the supply chain tightens. I don't know exactly what is causing this, but I wish you well. Can you talk to your provider to see if you can be switched to a cheaper, more available inhaler?
You can order elecampane root by the pound. It tastes bad but should work for you in a pinch--maybe $27 Check it out. Aren't there those discount drug cards you can get on line anymore? Like Good Rx?
Mary mentioned drugstore discount cards. I know there are several of those but haven’t used any of them. I think they’re still around. Amazon has been sending me emails about a new pharmacy service and it has a page where you can check to see if they have your medication and the price of it. Here’s a link. https://pharmacy.amazon.com/?ref_=EM_ACQ_EVR_23W46/ I don’t know if it can help but it’s free to check.
I appreciate the suggestions. Yes we have Good Rx cards, but this price is till better than what others want. Will be taking sick dog to vet today. Charging again. This is already showing to be a very expensive year for us. I know it is a whine-and that others on here and everywhere else have much worse things going on - but just feeling a bit defeated already. I will get over it. Between dental repair on Mark, dog issues and increased prices on everything, it just gets to be too much, as you all are aware.
@Don Alaska - um there is no provider at the moment. Meaning i do not have a pulmonary doctor in this forsaken town . In fact there are no specialist within a 100 mile radius. I am going to see a doctor tomorrow and will ask him questions.
Your new dog is sick, @Hedi Mitchell , what is wrong with her ? Hoping that it is nothing serious ! It seems like pretty much everything in life costs more now, so any new thing that happens and costs extra seems much worse than normal. We don’t have much, and our life seems pretty stable; but when something does happen, it is a real hardship, so I understand what you are saying . Sending hugs and prayers your way.
yes she is sick. Heartbreaking as the other 2 GS we have had showed same symptoms. Did not want another one. Long story but intentions were good. Now we are attached to her only making it worse. I have a dog dna test coming tomorrow as a surprise for Marks BD. and thank you!
I don't know why the New Year 'Celebration' has to happen during the darkest coldest time of the year. Of course now I am reminded of the woman complaining about the deer crossing signs in Wisconsin. She called the DNR to suggest that they move the signs to other locations as so many deer get hit by cars where they are.
