If you don't care about the High Cost of everything since 2019 and don't buy these Muffins pass over the tyraid. I don't buy any breads for the last 30+ yrs but am pissed about the increases that WILL NOT come DOWN in the future. A couple of commentators on a non Biden type radio station went into a tyraid on the increases and got to the Thomas Muffins.....They were saying that their markets charge $5.29+ for a 6 muffin pack and these muffins were $3+ in 2019... and that Target continues to sell them for the $3 something price. So here some savings info if you want it. The prices in general that are now so sky high will not come down in the coming years.....So hang on and change your eating habits. I sure have but started changing years ago anyway. Or if money is not an issue then forget this. And these guys started off their rant with the Constant LIES in mainstream media....constant, many say how great things are and again LIES, they can say anything they want to spread.
The price of all foodstuffs has gone up dramatically since Biden took office. Some may not be his fault, but a lot of it is the deliberate attacks on agriculture, the sanctions on Russia, and the insults to the energy industry, as well as all the government handouts that inflated the currency. I see now that California has opened Medi-Cal to illegals as of today, and Chicago is recruiting illegals to serve as police officers. Both apply only to those who were caught and released by the Feds, but not to those who evaded capture. How would you feel about being given a speeding ticket by someone in the country illegally?
Sometimes I’m very glad not to live in either Chicago or California. Joy, I used to buy Thomas English muffins but not much lately. I looked up the price and they have really gone up here too but there were some store brands for a lot less. Next time I will try a lesser known brand. Nearly everything has gone up a lot and I agree prices won’t go down. Anyone who buys food and fuel must know that Bidenomics has hurt ordinary people.
Went to my favorite local authentic Bagel store. If you buy six, you get seven. The price is $7.50. Went up from six dollars. Hardly ever buy Bagels, so many carbs.
Awesome post, @Lulu Moppet ! I am not sure that I have ever had a truly authentic bagel, like you probably get there in New York. We have something called Brugers (or some such name), and I tried their bagels and they were much nicer than the ones in the grocery store. Like you mentioned, bagels are mostly wasted carbs, so I seldom buy them either. But a hot toasted bagel with cream cheese and cranberries is my total favorite !
I stopped any bagel eating for your same reason, high carbs. We can use some carbs but not high high carbs. My bread type treat is a ultra thin crust personal pizza, maybe 2 a month...half for an evening meal and other half for breakfast, cold with some avacoda smeared on th e slices. suits me fine.
I ve seen Bagels but never bought one in my life. Costco has them in bulk and many buy the bulk packs. Wow they are high in calories …….and carbs …...allot of my evening meals are only around the 260 ~ 290 calories especially if I’m cooking a prawn dish or other light meal from the fast 800 book I only use as a guide for nutritious meals
This is the bread I buy from bakers delight. Which is a franchise of independent privately owned shops ( baked fresh everyday ) What I buy is low GI high fibre ,( white bread ) we don’t eat allot of bread so a loaf lasts us over a month Lots less calories than bagels ( 161 calories for 2 slices of bread ) https://www.bakersdelight.com.au/products/hi-fibre-lo-gi-white-block-loaf/
Yikes, bagels are NOT a health food, the saving grace is a little fiber but not enough for me to bite into any..thanks for the info on ingredients. j
Speaking of price of food not going down too soon -ions maybe. Meats that I would not have bought I began to purchase for that simple fact. We wouldn't be able to afford it down the road - at all. The option to buy or not to buy has been basically eliminated.
"If you don't care about the High Cost of everything since 2019 and don't buy these Muffins pass over the tyraid." What is a tyraid?
If a person is a zero carb person then yeah, the carbs are high. But, given that the rule of thumb is 1 gram of fiber to 5 grams of carbs, I really have no problem with it other than the cost.
Almost any food is okay, even bagels, if they are an occasional treat and not a daily thing. @Yvonne Smith needs to visit someplace with a good Jewish deli for the best bagels, right @Lulu Moppet ?
