I have not yet seen Carlson's interview with Putin and have just started watching this video, but I thought some of you might find it interesting.
Most of us know that in 2020, people were voting "Never Trump" and not "for" Biden. So now look what a mess. It's so frustrating to have to choose the lesser of two evils in the voting booth.
I think Putin was giving a brief history of Russia simply because most Americans have no clue as to European and Asian history, much les their own history. American history and world history has been taken out of our schools so the agenda can be taught. Only homeschoolers in the U.S. learn history or civics. We have no clue what the constant threat of invasion is like. Russia is estimated to have lost 20 million people in WWII and a similar number of deaths in WWI. Imagine the impact of those losses on a society over the span of 31 years! Americans have no clue. Putin had a promise that NATO would not expand to Russia's borders from George H.W. Bush, but among the first things Clinton did as President was to violate that promise and threaten Russia with NATO. I guess even with the lesson, Carlson still didn't quite get it. The numbers from the wars do not include the wounded and maimed, which approximately double those numbers.
I will assume that the way that Americans view Russia is as flawed as the way that Russians view Americans, and this is sad because Russia would be a much better trade partner, and perhaps even ally, than China or the Middle Eastern countries that we look to. Rather than getting better, it's getting worse rapidly. Only a month ago, 41% of Americans viewed Russia as an adversary; now, 70% of Americans feel that way, and this isn't along political lines, as 72% of Democrats view Russia as an adversary, while 69% of Republicans agree. Given the greater understanding of the lies that were told by the Biden Administration and other Democrats, I would have thought this number would come down rather than rise.
I don't know, but I suspect that Russians know more about the U.S. than the American public knows about Russia. We wallow in ignorance about foreign countries and societies, and simply accept what we are fed by the propaganda machine. Of course, Russia has a machine as well that feeds crap to their populace, but I think their education system is better on international affairs than ours is. We used to communicate via ham radio with Russians, and they appeared to know quite a bit about how the U.S. operates.
We, the US, need an enemy. Either it's Afghanistan, Iran, or Russia. We owe China too much to have it for an enemy.
@Don Alaska, you're probably right. For whatever reason, the media and both political parties appear to have a vested interest in maintaining an adversarial position with Russia while cozying up to China and the Middle East. When the bulk of the American populace decided to retire their brain cells and allow the media, politicians, and appointed experts to tell them what they think, they put into place what we have today, which is a citizenry that embraces knowing nothing and being proud of their ignorance, while giving it another name, and defending it with all the anger they can bring up.
I was just commenting elsewhere that people take the latest soundbite and get in your face with it as though they legitimately earned a PhD in the subject. The scary thing is they truly believe themselves to be that knowledgeable...just because everyone else thinks it.
IDK, When the media was saying Trump colluded with Russia, I saw it as his setting up a relationship with them, of sorts. He was definitely not cozying up with China or the Middle East. Still think this is a WEF chess game.
Besides interviewing President Putin and Edward Snowden, Tucker also filmed some of his experiences in Russia , as a tourist, basically. Because of the sanctions, Russian McDonalds had to close down, but they were simply bought out by a Russian, and have been in operation with the same menu items as before, except that now, all of the beef has to be Russian beef with no GMO’s in it, and it has a Russian name instead of McDonalds. Tucker got two cheeseburgers, French fries, cola , and a slice of chocolate cake, all for about $7 American. We sure can’t do that at a fast food place here in America ! Next, they went to the grocery store, where he bought fresh bread, and a cart full of foods that he thought would be about what a family of 4 would buy for a week, and which he and his crew ate most of during their stay in Russia. They believed they had about $400 worth of groceries, but when it was charged up, they only spent the equivalent of around $100 USD, and the food was fresher. So….. who is really feeling the sanctions on Russia ? It appears that we are , more than the Russians are. The pictures of the city were beautiful, and the subway was especially beautiful, and all of the people were nicely dressed and no homeless on the streets anywhere , from what Tucker saw, anyway. I am pretty sure that Putin would be taken care of native Russians over illegals coming into the country (if any are even going there ?).
Russia's population is less than half of ours (43% to be exact) in an area 75% larger than ours. Of course, a big chunk of Russia is uninhabitable (unless climate change gives them a boost.) And there are certainly other factors. But their most densely populated city (St. Petersburg) is 15% (1/6th) the density of New York City. So no wonder it's nice.
I saw that. The powers-that-be are gonna crucify him if they can find a way. I hope he comes through unscathed.
The president of Ukraine said he put out a kill order for Tucker Carlson, and apparently he did hire an assassin to plant a bomb under Tucker’s vehicle when he was in Russia. They caught the man who was paid to plant the bomb before he was able to to it thankfully, and I imagine that Tucker had security watching his car and checking for things like bombs before he used the vehicle. I have been reading about this on Twitter for the last few days, but Nino just put out a video that shows the actual assassin.
