Doug Wilder was governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1994. Those who fixate would call him the nation's first black governor. Virginians called him Governor Wilder. Screw "barriers."
I don't vote for a person's color or creed. I try to learn if they do a good job of the office they are in and if they are qualified for the office they are running for.
Pretty much. And any "barriers" that get broken are done by the voters, not by the elected politician. Obama did not "make history," the American voters did (for better or for worse.)
i think artificial intelligence will be used in all the upcoming important elections... they can take your voice...your face..can't verify because of controlling media and political powers
As @Shirley Martin reported, he called the Holocaust 'Hogwash.' That's enough for me. Your post was magnificent, Shirley, thank you.
This is what the MSM claims he said... And here is his ENTIRE comment. The MSM is still editing to make their story fit the narrative.
Unfortunately the media edited version is enough for too many people. I appreciate seeing the entire statement.
I may not have gotten enough sleep or something, but it seems like that statement can be interpreted in two ways. It's important to be clear in one's statements.
He was trying to convey that the leftist government in Germany had begun putting stringent gun ownership restrictions on citizens long before the rise of Hitler. Drawing a parallel to what's happening in the USA today with the gun control hysterics. It's so easy to take words out of context, especially if you want to believe it's so. Seems like Trump could never make a joke or a sarcastic remark that wasn't reported as the gospel by the MSM. With so many news organizations reporting "Robinson Denies Holocaust!!!!!" people are going to believe it, especially the people who want to believe it.
I was just thinking what a tragedy it is that we no longer have actual journalists who care about truth and accountability in reporting. The entire news media is just one huge spin machine. A person has to dig up video clips to see what was actually said, then hope that the video hasn't been digitally altered. I certainly have no skin in the game as far as Mark Robinson is concerned, but I don't like to see anyone smeared. It just grinds my oats.
I have no skin in that game either, but I wanted to try to get at the truth there, and you are better at it than I am.
“It came off the wrong way,” he wrote, according to a photo of the book’s text shared by Lonergan. “When people called me and asked about it, that’s what I told them. And I apologized to them. It’s the only time I’ve ever apologized for anything I put on Facebook. It did come out wrong. I knew the truth of what I was trying to say, but I should have chosen different words.” This is an excellent reminder of why we should be careful of what we post on social media. It will be there forever. I'm not condemning his words or condoning his words. He did apologize. It was in bad judgement at the best but that wouldn't prevent me from voting for him.
Is that apology in reference to this? I don't know what book he is referring to, or who Lonergan is. I agree that he didn't make the best choice of words, but I don't believe that warrants any apology. He needs to practice being more politically correct and succinct, especially in today's social climate.
