Well, I'll admit didn't actually listen to it. But I'm guessing it was something about "where no man has gone before". Maybe not.
Woke" is a term that originated in African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and refers to being aware of social injustices, particularly those related to race and ethnicity. It's often used to describe someone who is socially and politically aware, especially regarding issues of systemic racism, inequality, and discrimination. However, it's not tied to any specific individual or group. People who are described as "woke" can come from various backgrounds and have different experiences that lead them to this awareness. It's more of a descriptor for a certain mindset or awareness rather than a specific person or group of people I shall remain asleep until I deem necessary be Woke
Thanks for the explanation of "woke". Thing is, I think the word has been co-opted and is now used to mean something along the lines of "overly sensitive" to the point where small things get turned into huge infractions on the part of someone or other.
Actually, it was co-opted from the get go, since social injustices, systemic racism, inequality, discrimination, etc can be perceptions and inferences.
This Woke Movement has nothing better to do than attempt to change language in all its areas, which is uber stupid. Shatner and I are of the same generation, and we're the ones with common sense and logic. We could teach these silly faddists a thing or two, if only they are willing to listen. This too shall pass, and so we sit back and sigh. Here we go again.
