It should humble us to think that people in the past knew more than we do now. We think mankind has evolved gradually and we are more knowledgeable than our ancestors. Obviously not the case.

I agree, like in the Bible ," earth hangeth upon nothing " ,another verse, " circle of the earth".
How did they know the earth was round and floated through space nothing holding it up.

2 questions I thought about our World /Earth pop in my head yesterday. Below all the questions and the google response.

What makes the world go round?

Earth rotates due to its inherent angular momentum, which is a result of the way it formed from a spinning cloud of gas and dust during the creation of our solar system; essentially, the Earth continues to spin because of inertia, meaning it resists changes in its motion once it started spinning, and there are no significant forces to slow it down.

Does the Earth gain weight with the increase in population?

No, the weight of the Earth does not increase with an increase in human population because the mass needed to create new humans comes from existing matter on Earth, like food, water, and air, meaning no new mass is added to the planet; the total mass remains constant due to the law of conservation of mass.

Conservation of mass: The principle that mass cannot be created or destroyed, only rearranged.

Source of human mass: When a human is born, the mass comes from existing materials on Earth, not from "outside".

Earth's mass loss: While the Earth does gain a small amount of mass from space dust, it actually loses more mass each year due to escaping gases like hydrogen and helium.

I find it interesting that ancient civilizations get buried over time. Even things installed in own yards seem to "sink." Where does all that dirt come from? Where is there a like-kind reduction of dirt?

It's funny when I was reading about treasure Finding with a metal detector they would say coins would sink In one article, The next article I would read said coins come to the surface? I believe gravity pull things toward the center of the earth. The constant pull of gravity has its effect on things, for example, I used to be 6'2" Now i'm 5'7".:D

So, the earth asks, "Does this population growth make me look fat?"

I ask that question, Where does all the dirt come from? every time I vacuum.
Everything in my pole building gets covered in dirt, and it does not take that long. Mostly, it is the wind stirring the footing up. Outside, water and wind do a lot of moving around.IMHO
