I was just thinking the other day about how many movies and TV shows could not be made now. Certainly none of the Edward G. Robinson gangster flicks wouldn't make the cut, nor would some of the James Cagney movies, nor many of the Western Classics. I think maybe Casablanca and The African Queen would be banned, not to mention It Happened One Night. Much of history is being erased for the same reason. George Orwell warned us it would be coming to this; he was just a little premature in his predictions.
Not to mention the sheriff.... And of course the campfire scene. It was all male, so that couldn't be filmed now.
Years ago, in anticipation of certain films possibly being banned (which didn't happen), we bought these Mel Brooks movies on DVD: Blazing Saddles History of the World Part I Well, they didn't get banned, but we tend to buy DVDs of what we want to watch anyway, so ... no harm, no foul.
I just have to think of those movies and I get a smile on my face (the same goes for a couple of Monty Python flicks.) Clevon Little was perfect for the role. Died at 53 in 1992 from colon cancer. Okay, back to Woke Language:
Star Trek: Discovery Stars Respond To Woke Controversy "Ever since it premiered in 2017, Star Trek: Discovery has weathered criticisms from certain corners of the Trek fandom who claim that everything in the series is dictated by a so-called “woke” agenda. In fact, a lot of fans simply refer to the current state of the franchise as “Woke Trek.” And now, some of the Discovery stars are responding to the criticisms." MORE
I stopped reading the linked article when I encountered the first reference to "cisgendered." Somehow "outcomes are evidence of discrimination," except...
I was going to stop but read through. I remembered racism touched on in the original with those half white, half black painted guys. Plenty of social commentary of the time. I think the sexual aspect is the most emotion raising one. From the first transracial kiss to todays lgbqurz....
That's because most people don't want to hear about it, regardless of variation or orientation. Regarding the half black/half white characters...I love me some Frank Gorshen. He was actually nominated for an Emmy for his role as Riddler on the Batman TV show.
I liked Racism is wrong no matter who does it as is any kind of prejudice towards others because of skin color. Wokeism to me is just when people act foolish while pushing agendas.
