    SIGH ….double that

    IMG_2264.gif

I’ve spent almost 5 hours today :( trying to pay off a debt of of $22.00 in total

Id normally just go into After Pay and click on pay now ( or they take it out of bank ) if I’ve not paid before due date .

and it’s done / paid ……BUT not today ….I've had the biggest run around you could imagine just to pay off a 1/2 dozen reels of embroidery thread I bought for my machine .

I was feeling extra lazy when I sat down to google for the best thread for my machine ( it’s hates rayon thread )
so I was looking for polyester thread …..any way the online sewing store took after pay or credit card ..nah not using my credit card ( I’d normally use pay pal but that was not listed on the site so I choose After pay ) and I only needed my finger print to pay for that .

Now to the drama of the day , like I said I owed a grand total of $22.00 I get a urgent message from Afterpay they will be putting my account into default ……think the wording was for not paying my $22.00 owing and Due on March 1st :eek::eek:……OMG …..ITS ONLY ….Feb 27th here in Aussie land.

WHAT ….I ALWAYS pay my bills , so I contact them and of course I get a reply in broken English …..your credit card has expired …..WHAT ….i don’t think so ….however I’m fully aware it expires on March 31st and before we left on this trip I went into my home town bank branch and asked exactly what date in March it expires and the manager I spoke to said March 31st ( the card only has 03/2024 on it )

However after pay insisted id only had the card for 8 weeks …..I don’t think so ,:eek::eek: it would be 3 years since I was issued this one ….and it’s the ONLY CARD I have ..I don’t actually have a bank card only one , I use to spend my own money or get money out of the bank or ATM machine .

DH ended up saying maybe put his card into AP and use that to pay the $22.00 owing then delete his details which can be done right after paying ….if there is nothing left owing on the account . ( which is what happened )

I was going to lodge a complaint to AP how I’ve been treated like I’m some sort of swindler who changes credit cards every few weeks, ……but I very much doubt it would be worth my effort in doing so

    That sounds like a nightmare.

After Pay is a new term to me but I think Amazon does offer a pay later option. I'm not sure how that works.

I have had a couple of incidents of my credit card somehow being used by someone else several years ago but the CC company was very good to catch it right away. I was then asked if I made the purchase and the card was canceled. Also, I think cards are usually replaced automatically either before the expiration month 0r at the very beginning of it but that may work differently here.

That sounds like a logical decision to me, Kate.

Not that I plan to use it but when I get time I'm going to look into what Amazon does with their pay later offers just out of curiosity.

I'd lodge a complaint, Kate, just to make yourself feel better.

You know more about their system than I, but here is the Afterpay complaint page. LINK

I was having a dickens of a time with Chase CC. I don't do online banking of any sort and they wanted to get me to do it. (Yes, I know I will eventually have to ) So they would send me my statement with maybe a week till payment was do and then drag their feet to post payment which I always sent out the next day. So I would end up with late fees and all the foolishness like lower credit score. So I stopped using them and keep the cc for emergencies like when someone steals my other cc account.
They keep offering me money and rewards to sign up for a checking account or other services.
    I DON'T THINK SO.

CC companies have hacked a week off of the amount of time between the Closing Date and the Due Date. Then it takes time for them to create & mail the bills. It used to be that the Postmark Date was the Paid Date (the IRS considers that the be the date you received the monies)...now it seems their mail room is [intentionally] backed up.

I do OnLine Payment because I hate writing checks. I've been that way ever since I was moved into office work and had to push paper all day long. So now I get a bill, log into my bank account, then set up a pay date.

    @John Brunner
They are still insisting my Visa card has expired but I used it this morning via pay pal to pay for a wrist BP machine like @Beth Gallagher has and 2 nonib T-shirts so if it’s expired why can I use it on pay pal ?

I lodged a complaint and they sent me a “rate your experience “ with afterpay email ..they surely have to thick as 2 short planks
I lodge a complaint and they want to write a review on service ….what service ….they did nothing

I like the Bluetooth “ big” BP machine I have, but it’s to bulky for transporting when we are away so after chatting to Beth yesterday I got one on eBay brand new $115 free post ….the prices vary quite a bit some as expensive as $280 at online chemists

I just went into my PayPal account to update my new card number expiry date …..When I logged in my new card number along with expiry date is already showing on PP now how did they get those details ?. .?
old card is still valid till end of March

My new card was here waiting for me when I arrived home on Saturday , but apart from unpacking the car I’ve hardly done anything let alone add my new card to any online sites as we have both been stuck down with a nasty flu so we’ve spent allot of time sleeping ( no not Covid )

@Beth Gallagher talked about this in her Secret Diary thread.

Here's the beginning of the discussion.
Here's an article she linked to regarding "Automatic Updater Service."
