This is one large funeral, Trump talked to the fallen officers wife in [private for about 10 minutes, then they walked up to the casket together.

I do wonder of all the officers killed why this one is talked about so much more.
Was this the final straw of Americans patience with epidemic of crime?
Build more prisons. Prosecute more criminals and being back bonds that match the criminal history and crime.

Too many progressive cities intentionally let criminals run rampant so that our freedoms can be trashed for our "safety," while the governors, mayors and district attorneys crap on the cops. I think this guy's rap sheet and long list of arrests & releases put the death of the cop squarely on the shoulders of politicians, and resonates with good officers nationwide.

President Trump also paid off the mortgage on the house for the widow of the murdered police officer. He gave the money to an organization that help widows of police officers killed on duty, and the organization immediately paid off her house mortgage. President Trump also talked with her, and i think that he let her know that this would happen, and he was invited to the funeral, as opposed to the governor, who was told to stay away, came anyway, and was told to leave.

John I agree and where it belongs. The cop lived in a more conservative part of NY some rep's are republican. I noticed many democrats are voting for Trump and leaving the crime party.

This is great. I don't think the police will continue to vote democrat after seeing how they are treated by them.

Well, being "not Democrat" ain't gonna cut it. Republicans has sat by and watched the destruction without doing a damn thing about it.

    It depends on us.

Our state representatives have an "Open House" on the MLK Monday holiday. This is before the annual legislative session begins. I'm with a group that shows up and gets eyeball-to-eyeball with every reps to discuss what we want. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't do this with my state reps on every issue, and I rarely contact my Congressional reps because I don't think it will do any good (in other words, they win because I gave up.)

If we don't contact them on a routine basis, then the current state of affairs is our fault (to a large degree.) Heck, we can't even get 60% of the voters to show up in an off-year election. This is what happens in self-government when no one wants to engage the conflict.

The police union told the Democrat politicians in NY not to show up. Hochul came anyway and was spoken to by a man after which she left. I don’t know who he was.

I will just mention that it isn’t a good thing when the voters give all the power to one party. It’s pretty hard for the minority party to pass legislation or do anything. Even the small majority in the House has very little power. If even a couple of Republicans vote with the Dems, are absent or abstain the GOP can’t even block a bill much less pass one. I hope the voters, cops and everyone else will be smarter this time but I have very little faith in voters..

@Yvonne, I saw some news articles that said Tunnels to Towers paid the mortgage. I don’t know what is correct.

Biden attended a fundraiser with Clinton and Obama and took in a record setting amount of money if the reports can be trusted.

The Democrats always push their agenda, whether it has a chance of passing in that moment or not. They beat on it and beat on it and beat on it. Republicans do not.

When the Democrats have power they change the rules and they crap on Republicans. Remember Obama's snarky "Elections have consequences"? That all changed when Trump won the election. Suddenly it was "Resist!"

When the Republicans have power they don't exercise it...they worry about "being congenial." Even if they just got screwed, they want to "play nice."

Perhaps this funeral portends of the tide shifting. Let's just hope that elections still mean something.
