Sorry, tried to delete second set of photos, but couldn't. Anyway, this young lady (on left) states that TJ Maxx wouldn't hire her due to her facial tattoos and piercings. Apparently she also has a tattoo of Satan on her upper chest. Do these young people really think they can get a job, other than at a Tattoo/Piercing Parlor, and look this way? I know if I owned a store/company, I wouldn't hire her! She is just too scary looking! What do you think?
Good afternoon to all- I really don't give a rat's hiney what someone does with her/his body. Not my business- not my concern. BUT, a person's appearance does reflect on what goes on around that person, and if I ran a business- which I would never do- I would not have a place for this person out on the showroom. If the job was in the back where only employees work, perhaps. but not out front as a representative of the business. I wore a tie for most of my teaching career- not because I wanted to, but because it showed respect to the students and to myself. Appearance does make a difference. I don't know what message this person was going after, but I don't think it was the one she will get from most people who see her. You all be safe and keep well- Ed
There's a big long thread about her on another forum I frequent. She was whining because her application was rejected through an automated process rather than the personal phone call that she apparently expected. I'm not sure I've ever even been notified of my application not moving forward unless I went in for several rounds or interviews. She also has an Only Fans account, where people "monetize their content." WIKI says "The service is used primarily by sex workers who produce pornography." edit to add: Some think this is a stunt to drive more paying viewers to her porn account.
I wouldn't hire her for any position that involved meeting the public. Why hire a potential negative when there are people around who haven't made such a mess of themselves? On the other hand, if I were hiring someone to work in a factory or something, this still wouldn't be a positive but neither would it be a deal breaker.
What I just found out, the lady on the left of the picture, told her that it was both her tattoos and her attitude that won't get her hired anywhere. Plus, the lady on the left mentioned her "Satan" looking tattoos were extremely bad taste to get. Here is what a few repliers said to her on Tik Tok: “Choices have consequences,” one commenter wrote. “Most times, when you flip the bird at society, society flips one right back,” another joked. “There’s a reason that tattoo artists refer to face tattoos as career enders,” wrote another.
My question would be, WHY would a young person want this done? They think all of society would like how the look? Then again, there are two top singers, Post Malone and Jelly Roll that look very much like this, but without all of the piercings. And, there are some men in our society that are bald and have their entire head and neck tattooed. To me, some things are simply taken to far!
I have a few tattoos on my arms that were done when I was in high school. Although they're not outrageous, I wore long-sleeve shirts for much of my life because of them. Although society seems more accepting of tattoos today than forty years ago - and there also seems to be more professionally done tattoos today - it's not a good idea to get a tattoo on a whim, particularly in a place that can't be easily hidden. Unless you're looking for a job in a tattoo parlor, there probably aren't many jobs where a tattoo provides a positive element for your future, but it can be a negative one. In other words, it is not likely to help you, but it can hurt you. Hiring someone as a paramedic, despite the fact that I had tattoos myself, if I had one position open and two candidates, one with tattoos and one without, I'd hire the one without if everything else were equal. While working an ambulance, I nearly always wore long-sleeved uniform shirts despite working in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. My tattoos weren't likely to enhance someone's confidence in me, but they could be a detriment. I can't think of too many circumstances in life where someone is likely to think, "I'd like him a lot more if he had tattoos."
I think there are jobs that totally understand a person with some military tattoos from the Navy, Army, Marines or Air Force on their arms, but not a lot. But, now young people think they can get any kind of job no matter how many tattoos/piercings they have and what the tattoos portray. They are most definitely wrong, but nobody can tell them any different. Young people call their tattoos "body art", but we say they are "hey, look at me" or "I just want to be noticed" and they are. I know another thing, Beth doesn't like me discussing our dislike of tattoos and I think it's because her husband has them. That's fine. Another thing I'm wondering is, do tattoo artists and body piercing people make a great salary and live the "good life"? Sure would seem that way to me.
A thing that put a "blackeye" on tattoos is when a documentary about jails/prisons show the prisoners. Gang members, whatever, and they are covered with tattoos a lot. I think the public might wonder, "why on earth would anyone want to look like a gang member or that they've spent time in prison?". However, there are some very beautiful color tattoos out there and we seen them. I've even complimented people about theirs. So, we aren't totally against them, but...........
Excess tatoos & piercings are a cry for attention. Someone who craves that much attention has other issues going on & that's why they wouldn't be hired.
I beg your pardon. My husband does NOT have any tattoos nor has he ever had. I "don't like you discussing" tattoos because you say the same thing every time. We get it.
Nope no hire- not even for backroom work. the daughters-one military has tattoos. Anything above the chest line to me is a no no. My ex had a few-one I almost ripped off his arm, 50 years ago. Because he spent our last $10 on one while our child was very sick. Aside from any facial tats, that is my biggest beef. Tats are not cheap now,and getting one when you do not have the money for it is dumb and selfish. I must stop before I Rant
Well, Beth, the way you jumped at me before about tattoos/piercings, you sure seemed to have family that have them. Many families protect those in their family that have them. As far as "getting it", why am I getting so many replies concerning this young lady and others that look like her? This would mean to me that we "get it", but want to voice our opinion about the look anyway. Sorry Beth, you are outnumbered here with this subject! And, besides that, how much discussion has gone on about Biden and other things, in this forum?
I have a tattoo. It's a tasteful, small one that nobody is going to see unless I'm parading around nekkid......which I don't tend to do much these days for obvious reasons. I got it because...gasp...I wanted a tattoo. I had wanted one for a long time. So I got one as a 60th birthday present to myself. It's irrelevant to me whether someone else approves of it or not. If someone wants a tattoo, it's not my business. If it's a good one, I'll admire it. If it's not, then I'll ignore it. Once again, it's NOT MY BUSINESS! Certain people would be advised to concentrate on ignoring things they hate instead of going on...and on....and on about them.
