If you google it, there's a scientific explanation but no time table. "As our skin matures, its natural antioxidant protection declines. This decline results in greater oxidation of lipid acid. When lipid acid is oxidized, the chemical compound nonenal is produced, giving off the “old people smell” that many of us are familiar with. Exactly why this happens is still a mystery."
My grandpa smelled like pipe tobacco; I still love that smell. And my dad wore Old Spice so that is also a familiar smell that I love. I don't recall my parents or grandparents having any unpleasant smells, even as they got older.
How will we know if we stink? It would be impolite for anyone to tell us so won't they just hold their breath and hurry out of the house?
May be why some older men and women “bathe” in strong smelling perfume's/ aftershaves and scented talc . One of our friends works with indigenous children and allot of indigenous ( adults ) comment that ‘White” people stink
Thanks a lot, y'all! Now I may never leave my house again for fear of offending someone's delicate nostrils.
I think the old people smell, like in nursing homes, is more the urine that gets under the toilets. Sometimes accidents on carpets? When I can smell myself, I definitely take a shower. Working in the heat increases the activity. I remember noticing people in stores smelling of not pleasant smells and would prefer not smelling that way. My youngest freaks out about how she smells.
I don't have access to any little enough to be that honest and I sure wouldn't want them to go home and tell their mother that lady stinks!! Arg! TV ads have become unwatchable. No kidding!
Guess what? Kelly Clarkson's feet stink and (she snot old yet )her co workers and visitors don't like it...provided if you can believe anything you read anymore.
