So many rumblings warning of the possibilities of WW III and of those advancing things in that direction.
The man is aware of Poland's history as a pawn of powerful nations and does not want that history repeated. An unfortunate historical fact is that Poland was not permitted to march in the victory parade in London after WW2 after fighting alongside the allies because Stalin had plans for Poland and Churchill didn't want to offend him.
Poland got royally screwed in WWII, mostly by the British. Poland gave them the Enigma for which they took credit and benefited greatly and performed nobly in the RAF to save Britain then were hung out today by Churchill and his cronies.

Putin has known that NATO has designs on Russian resources for some time. I don't think the people behind the war have misjudged Russia,however, just as Napoleon and Hitler did.
