    Looking back before Independence Day

Peak: My daughter in-law brought over a box of pancake mix or so I thought until I looked it over. I could make pancakes or other recipes, like biscuits. Similar to Bisquick. I have had a very difficult time with making biscuits, so I tried the two ingredient recipe and they came out to be the best I have ever made. I ate most of them. :) I love breads.

Pit: I was awaken by the sound of a collision while I was just nodding off on my front porch to see a police cruiser heading in my direction.:eek: Fortunately, the officer gets an A+++ from me the way he maneuvered turning the cruiser away from my direction. It was like a scene in a movie. Scary. My mind said, 'MOVE!' my body didn't comply. I was frozen to the seat.

I keep saying I crack myself up. :D

Peak still alive, but with obstacles - like we all have. Suns out, no rain for the moment.
Mark is recovering from his eye surgery. Pit- was all set to make pancakes- we rarely eat. Looks like we will not be eating today either. Can you say - major flop? Was this a Biden episode for me? :p

Yesterday we left to drive 2.5 hours to Garden City Ks, to have his stitches removed. We were there 1.5 hours. We left went to a Arbys to eat, Left and drove home another 2.5 hours. Could barely move this morning pain in hip and back. I must have sat wrong yesterday. I have slept nearly all day. I did take some OTC pain med.
Today we were suppose to drive another 1 hour away to load up on much needed grocery. Due to my back we did not.
Then I get a call from the doctors office I go to Friday-1.5 hours away - to leave very early as there is half hour to an full hour delay do to road construction. o_O. I wanted to cancel but can't. Double Pit today. Peak? I am a tad better and feeling well enough to bitch about how much I am beginning to dislike this God forsaken state! Damn I feel better already - I have been wanting to say that for months :D Toodles

If it is just simple wound stitches, you can probably remove them yourself and save the trip. Never remove surgical stitches, though, especially if there is a drain. I'm glad things worked out though.

I had friends in Nebraska but only drove through Kansas on the way to Oklahoma, I think. I thought Kansas might be an interesting place to try to build a sod house but no water.
Maybe you could look into Iowa?

Land in Iowa is terribly expensive though.

@Mary Stetler @Don Alaska - thank you both- but if go anywhere it is back to Texas. I am still trying to be accepting of this part of Kansas- but I just cannot seem to reach that level after 17 mos. However we spent a fortune to move here and will probably die here-- but our remains are Texas bound! ;)

    Pit:
Have been sleeping horribly, getting up after midnight and staying up; making me exhausted, threatening my health.
    Peak:
Had great night's sleep at last, thank you Xanax, thank you.

Have you tried melatonin @Lulu Moppet? Several forms and many different strengths available.

When we went to Dodge City, Kansas, for a rodeo, we loved seeing all of the corn fields, farm equipment and Feed Lots/cattle along the way. But, when we arrived in Dodge City, it wasn't like we thought it might be. It was pretty neat seeing that Dodge City commemorates the tv show Gunsmoke and has a large bronze statue of James Arness/Marshall Matt Dillon. We had a long-time resident of Dodge City tell us how much it has changed and they don't like the change.
