It keeps making a "creaking" noise so I'm wondering when it's all going to decide to let go. I dread cleaning up all that glass.

Maybe try some masking tape over where the hole is ? If it is just on the outside, your inside glass should be okay, right ?
I remember reading about putting masking tape over mirrors when you are moving them, to keep them from breaking, so it might help on your window cracks, too.
It looks like a narrow window, so just some horizontal strips ever couple of feet might stabilize the cracks from breaking any more than it already is.

For sure. I feel sorry for the lawn guy; I know they work hard for not a lot of money. That window will probably cost $500 or more to replace. :(

I'm afraid to put any pressure on it at all but I'll see what my husband thinks when he gets home. And yes, the inside glass should hold since it's not cracked.

Well, the window is still hanging in there, so to speak. It is a stormy, rainy day so we'll see how it holds up in the wind and rain.

I had a followup doctor appointment this morning (PCP) and my blood pressure was really high for some reason. Not sure what that's all about but I will be monitoring my BP for a while. I got a referral to have my foot x-rayed. The middle toes on my "gout foot" are getting a wider space between them. I know that sounds weird, but I read that it can be caused by a tumor or other type of growth along the tendons. I know that sometimes gout can cause a growth called "tophi", so I'm wondering if that's what it is. Anyway, I'll likely be seeing a podiatrist after the xrays are done.

On my way home it was pouring rain. The street I normally travel home was blocked off for some kind of utility work, so I turned down an unfamiliar street which turned out to be a "no outlet" street, so I had to turn around and try to figure out how to get home. Then when I finally got to my street, I pushed what I thought was the garage door opener button in the car, but it turned out to be the "open sun roof" button. o_O:eek::eek: So luckily I was turning in the driveway while it rained inside the car. I got the garage open and pulled in before too much water got inside. Ugh. I'm sure that didn't help my blood pressure.

In my defense, the interior of the car is black, the headliner where the buttons are is black, and the dang buttons are black. I need a flashlight to figure out which button I need to press!! Have I mentioned that I miss my old car???

Got the invoice for the window replacement... $500.17. (My $500 estimate was pretty dang close.) The replacement has been ordered and I sent the invoice to the lawn guy. We'll see what happens next.

Kind of a lazy day today. Ran some errands and noticed an annoying rattle in my new car. I freakin' HATE rattles. So after taking everything out of the glove box and center console, I got my husband to ride shotgun and listen for the noise. Mind you, I have been trying to figure this out for a week or so and it sounded to me like it was in the dash somewhere in front of the passenger seat.

He was in the car for about 1/4 mile when he opened the "sunglasses holder" in the overhead compartment and removed my sunglasses. Rattle gone. o_O I wish other annoyances in life were fixed so easily.

We drove to Houston Garden Center to look for a tree for the front yard. I don't know why trees are so scarce at nurseries lately... maybe the two storms we've had this year has people buying them out or something. Anyway we found nothing; just a few very scrawny oak trees that were not what I wanted.

Speaking of my car, like other new models it did not come with a spare tire of any type... not even a "donut." I find this extremely annoying, even though in all my years of driving I have never needed a spare tire. I just find it worrisome to not have one. Spares are not even available to purchase from GM, even though there is an option to add one if the car is special ordered... so they have got to have them somewhere.

I found a seller on Ebay who has over 72,000 sales in 10 years and a 99.9% positive rating so I ordered a mounted spare donut from him. His product description says that he guarantees that it will fit, and will fit in the storage well that is built in under the floor of the hatchback. (Yes, GM put the storage well in, but no damn tire.) So it should be here by the end of the week and we'll see how this goes.

I asked my hubby to get me one for Christmas. We have a car recycling shop that sells parts from wrecks. Wheels often make it out alive.

Do you perhaps have run-flat tires, @Beth Gallagher ?

No. The salesman told us that it did, but I checked with the tire manufacturer with numbers from the sidewalls and they verified that my tires are not run flats.

There's a scary old broad outside, checking on the broken window. She really needs to do something with that hair.

The spare is sold as a "kit" which includes a scissor jack and a lug wrench. Hopefully I'll never need any of it.
