Hey, what I thought was going to happen, did. Offline, no power for about 30 minutes.

Gunshots not uncommon here. I don't get concerned unless I hear rifle fire larger than a .22 LR. Even .44 magnum handguns don't bother me much.

I usually hear shotguns. Before I moved in, they outlawed large caliber rifles during hunting season in my county. (I heard stories of a mayor's wife's car or house getting hit during hunting season causing the ban, but never confirmed any of them.) They sneaked back in under a ballot or some other measure. I was a little surprised, given all the city folk who have moved to the county.

Rifles are in everyone's home here, but it isn't safe to fire them except in controlled places or wilderness. Shotguns and handguns (even big ones) don't travel far through a heavily-treed forest, especially if mountains are involved, but .223 and larger are just not safe "plinking weapons" IMO. I have a friend who has a controlled range on his property and we used to shoot there. I also have a friend who has a gravel pit where it is safe to shoot big guns, but neither exist near me.
