By the way, I did tell you there might be some glitches from time to time until things settle. As it was, there was a whole lot less of that than I had feared. It doesn't take nearly as long for nameservers to propagate now than it used to. I was able to connect a couple of minutes after I changed them. I didn't turn the site back on for everyone right away because I wanted to make sure that it was really done. I had trouble believing it was that fast.
To delete Cache and Cookies in Google Chrome: Click on the three dots to the right of the menu bar, then select "Delete browsing data" This will bring up the following box. In the pull-down, choose "All time" and click on Delete Data This will sign you out of any websites you my be logged into. Just log back in.
Hopefully, I'll be able to redirect HTTP to the HTTPS version tomorrow. I don't want to try it tonight while I'm tired and a little bit frustrated, but I've done it before. I can remember finding the file that I need to edit wasn't all that easy, and this isn't a server that I'm familiar with, anyhow, and that editing it wasn't entirely intuitive, but I think I'll be able to figure it out. Once done successfully, it won't matter whether you enter HTTP or HTTPS, as it will redirect to the HTTPS version. That should take care of the cache problems too.
It looks like Firefox automatically changed my shortcut and created a new saved password file. I now have my credentials saved for http and for https. I'm assuming that I could not have accessed the site before if my shortcut was already set to https
I've bookmarked my site fave pages, and once I've chosen which page I want to go to first, which is "Forum", I can navigate the whole site with no issues. If I click a different link, sometimes I forget, some links won't take me to https:// but it is working for me to bookmark https:// pages very well. Let's all be patient, I can't even imagine doing the job Ken is, we are so blessed to have this site, thank you God, and thank you @Ken Anderson
I use Firefox as well John. I don't see that change in mine. I have version 131.0.3 right now (64 bit if that matters).
That's my version as well. For many sites, I don't have traditional bookmarks saved. Firefox lets you create Shortcuts below the Menu and the URL field: It is the S.O.Club shortcut that has the https in it. I may have changed it myself at some point in time, but if I did, it would have been a long time ago. And I can't imagine it working if I did. Another interesting thing is I have SOC set up in Password Manager so that Firefox automatically populates the UserName and Password fields when I log in. At some point a record for our https url got a password record created for it,so now there are two PW Records for this site. Either Firefox automatically did it or I created it a long time ago for some reason. It just doesn't make sense I would have created records for a url that did not exist at the time. I guess I could mess with it to find out if FF did this on its own, but I'm not that curious about it. If you have your SOC login credentials saved in Password Manager, go take a look and see if there's a record for our http url and a second record for our https url.
Ok, I've always called those bookmarks, but it has sites as well as folders. When I "import" bookmarks, like from one puter to another, this row is what is filled in on mine. Just hadn't ever heard them called shortcuts Doesn't matter though, I mean mine for SOC are all saved for https:// and it works for me

So Firefox automatically creates the second one. Interesting. But I doubt we'll encounter many other situations where a website changes like this one just did.

Thanks @John Brunner They have , had one silly thing today , I tried to quote a member and the whole page kept turning blue …pretty sure it’s my iPad ….the iPad has recently had a updates x 2 and it’s changed the location of some “buttons “ like where I edit photos …. and other places ……Grrr to apple updates …I always seem to have some issues after updates
I hate updates, too. There's no way I can recall every setting I've changed over time, and updates seem to revert things to "Default." So as long as you're not getting the "Resources" messages, it seems that things have settled down.
@Ken Anderson I tried uploading a pic that's a 40kb jpg file, and got this message: The Following Error Occurred: The uploaded file is too large for the server to process Silly me tried to upload a 29kb jpg screenshot of the above message and it was also too large. I see that some videos have been posted since we came back up, so this file size problem makes no sense.
