I agree, he should at least take them till he gets it controlled, right now he is running around like a kid, the tractor was delivered, and he can't calm down. He went to get diesel for it.
He said let y'all know he has a tractor now.

I agree with what Beth said, Jake. You must take the blood pressure pills daily to control it. If you don’t feel good on that particular BP pill, ask for another one. There are many kinds. You just have to find the one that works for you. My husband had to start taking BP pills and he had to try 4 different ones till he found one that works for him. High bloodpressure can mess with your kidney function too.

Have you ever tried Rescue Remedy for anxious/stressful moments? It comes in gummies and liquid and diffrent flavors. It is suttle, but does help.

I get ours through our OTC program with our medicare advantage plan, and it is just the CVS brand, but we have ordered from Amazon , from Humana (when we had their Advantage plan/OTC), and bought in stores from Walmart or Walgreens. Pretty much, any brand is about the same, from my experience, and we like the ones that dissolve on your tongue, as opposed to the ones you have to swallow.

Each person has different amount of melatonin it takes to help them relax and sleep better, and that can change with age, as we slow natural melatonin production the older we get.
I would suggest trying a 3 or 5 mg to start with, take one about a half hour before bed and see what it does, and then you will know if you need more or less of it.

Both Bobby and I take 10 mg at night, but we started out with 3 mg years ago. It is a natural hormone the body makes, so having more of it is not a problem and has no side effects except to help people relax at night. If you are drowsy in the morning, then a smaller dose is enough. My youngest son needed more than me, for it to help him sleep, and he is 25 years younger than I am, so different people need different amounts to work properly. You just have to start with a smaller dose and then add until it works for you.

If it helps at night, then Jake would know how much to take before a dr appointment, plus you can check his BP after taking it and see if it helps with that, too.

Both calcium and magnesium also help with relaxing and sleep, so you might experiment with those, too, and see if he can be more relaxed before the dr appointments. I get plenty of calcium from eating greens, and doing the protein drinks, but I take 400mg magnesium to help with my heart, and I also take that before bedtime at night. It can also stop muscle cramps at night, as well as helping the heart muscle.
Bobby does not eat much greens, so he takes cal/mag/zinc tablets.

I will Beth, I'm just like you about not liking or taking pills, either. But I took it today and will tomorrow, I think all the excitement about getting the tractor is why it goes to the moon. Did get it; and it's a Hoss of a tractor too, I've been giving these vines a hard way to go. :D

Thanks Yvonne, I will have to check them out. I know even taking a higher dose of BP, when going to the dentist or Dr doesn't help lower mine. The dentist lately, says the, "heck with it" and goes to work on me; because it just keeps going up higher each time they check it. Melatonin might help me sleep too, been having lots of sleepless nights the last month or so. Thanks again. :)

I'm on lesarton now. Was taking amlodipine but gave me head aces and dizzy so heard lesarton has less side effects so changed to it. It makes Maries go up instead of down, mine goes down unless Dr visits.
I need to find out where you get these and the ones, Yvonne said. Haven't heard of either. Thanks Krystal. :)

It never slows down here, but I'm gonna rest today anyway, my brother just finally retired and told me he fills like a fish out of water; not knowing what to do with himself now. I told him not to worry; he will find that after retirement; much to do, I've been busier than when I worked it seems. He said he's thinking about buying a couple wreckers and having some employees drive them for him. I told him you should think about that a little first, he said, I have been thinking about it for years now. He just sold his bug business, and seems lost without it. :)

I've heard horror stories of what the towing industry is like in some regions. There are videos of these guys literally ramming each other as they all (meaning 3 or more) respond to the same accident they picked up over their police scanners. It's insane.

    Search on "Tow Truck Wars."

ps: I'm glad you seem to have recovered. How's that knot?

It was up and getting bad but went back down this morning; just bleeding a little now; draining I guess, I know it should've been stitched up.

I will mention it to him about, "wrecker wars" again; but he's kind of hard headed like me. He's a couple years older than me, I have had 4 brothers and two sisters, lost one brother, and a sister, mother and father. So I have, one sister and three brothers left.

He's doing quite well though, his bug business was a fifty year old one; he took over years ago, and orkin or one of those companies, bought him out he told me.

The brother is in northern Virginia.
One sister is in Washington DC after decades in Winston-Salem NC
The other sister is in New Jersey, not far from Pennsylvania.

I don't have much any contact with them.
