I’m sure I have written about it before but just to be sure, Yvonne worked as a mother and house wife for the better part of 23 or so years so she didn’t get any social security accredited to her for those years so now she gets the bare minimum.

Seems to me if they can “award” social security benefits to people who are here illegally, they can up the ante for mothers who raised 3 children that are now paying into the system and are good taxpayers to boot.

I was widowed at a young age and had a 3 month old daughter. Social security paid a monthly payment for myself and my daughter. I am pretty good at living on nothing so I saved most of her payments which were supposed to go on till she was 18, 24 if she went to college. Well then it changed to no college payment when she got to that age. One must realize that the government can't be truly counted on for anything. It is nice if they live up to contracts but, like tsunamis, things change quickly. You have to learn to stand on your own two feet, if only for this People who were actually expecting gov't to pay for their student loans:p to even the small $750 for disaster aid gets denied. That is kind of why payment to illegals makes me nuts but they probably had a contract to come in as well, through the UN.
I don't mind the change to no college payment to widows with children. There was talk of taking away the housewife payments recently, of which I am one. I worked minimally, sometimes for money but not enough. We could make it if they take it but then there is a question on pension payments too. What if a company goes down?
I had a thought that billionaires should maybe forego social security. Even some multi millionaires--in the spirit of what social security is, a safety net. They are always talking of people earning over $400,000. I think even those could make it if they tightened their belts. But who is to say?
It is pretty cheap to live here if you are careful but not where I grew up or in the bigger cities.
I don't suppose there are any 'housewives' any more. People seem to need two incomes or feel they are not being all they can be without them. But there are still many of my age that were housewives and they need some sort of support, I would think.
I have seen discussions where they talked about 'living comfortably' which included trips to Europe etc. I think of living comfortably as being able to buy food and pay my utilities and have gas for my car. I can find joy just taking a trip to my woods at this point of my life and I don't have to buy a plane ticket.
The gov't could balance the budget. Rand Paul had a plan. Will it still work? IDK. Some changes in SS could be done reasonably.
I think the first thing would be to make an EO that all laws had to apply equally to the legislature as to the citizenry. That would take a lot off the books. Then keep whittling things down from there.

I disagree about SS payments. I believe that everyone who paid into SS should benefit from it. I don't care if they are billionaires; they were forced to pay into the system. Some of us would have preferred to make our own investments with that money but we had no choice in the matter. Joe Biden draws SS on top of his presidential salary, so I expect to receive my SS, too. (Of course, I'm not a billionaire, lol.)

I'd make Joe BIden pay ALL of his back and then put him in jail without receiving any more.
    But Hey...
I was to receive widow's naval pay also but I cancelled it because he was medically discharged after only three months in.
